Censorship in Germany for platforms with 2+million users, how would this affect Steemit?
This video is interesting regarding the censorship rules in Germany with fines of up to 60 Million USD if free speech is not censored in 24h.
Steemit Inc is not a german company and has nothing to do with Germany. Could they be forced to open censorship centers like Facebook with 1400 employees in Germany (and growing)?
Steemit could hide comments and posts, but they still would reside on the blockchain... Is this an issue for Steemit Inc, or can they just ignore it?
We are still far away from 2 million users. Also it is not clear how they would convert number of accounts to users? What if Steemit has 2,000,000 accounts some day: can they just say it is only 200,000 users as the rest are really 10 backup accounts for each user??

Is there no right to free speech in germany.
Free speech was completely abolished with the new law... Now there is no more right to free speech...

It just amazes me how there is still censorship in a few parts of the world. I am so grateful to live in a place where I can say whatever the hell I want to on steemit and I won't be jailed for it.
Which country do you live in if I may ask? I think really free speech is not allowed anywhere nowadays.
This may be serious issue for your country .
steem is decentralize and nobody can close our account or nobody can remove our post unless someone flag it.
Not that it's my country, it's after China the first country in the western world where you can go to jail for saying your opinion if it is not mainstream. The justice minister said that someone went to jail for 2 and a half years for a post on facebook... and I do not know if Steemit would have to reject connections from Germany in order to not be liable with some Free Trade Agreement between Europe and the US regarding free speech fines on the internet...
This is very serious matter....steemit will not give any information about user but they can track you through ip address.....steemit gives us opportunity to remain anonymous..,,,but i think its better to stay away from these matters..
I think It is impossible for each user to hold 10 backup accounts , friend.
That was just an example to show that we cannot be sure if we have reached the 2 Million User threshold... it is not a 2 million accounts threshold... Could b that we have 200,000 users if we already have 1 million accounts... who knows?
