How much can your life change in just one year?

As much as you can imagine!

But seriously though…

A year ago I was living in Seattle, working for a government agency enjoying life. Our family was thriving even.

And then the call came.

“I got the job. We’re heading to London” my partner said.

I remember being silent for what seemed like an eternity.

He interrupted the silence and dropped another bombshell.

“I have to be there in 3 weeks though”.

I thought we had more time.

You see we had planned on seeing if this move was possible and were just barely in the planning stages. I was just wasn’t prepared for it to be this quick!

My partner left initially and then for the next 3 months I packed up our US life into about 12 boxes. I sold our cars. I got rid of so much stuff.

The kids said their farewells and we boarded a plane for the UK.

In the past year I’ve taken a new leadership role, launched a new mental health startup, built 3 more addiction recovery courses, visited France, visited 15+ museums, met Prince William (Duke of Cambridge - seriously!) and so much more!

We’ve moved into a new place.

Our family dog passed away 😢

We’ve had laughs, tears, screams and quiet periods of intense contemplation.

Over the course of our lives we’ve lived in lots of places. Building relationships with lots of people along the way.

Moving to a new continent is incredibly life changing and can be a defining event. But you know what?

You don’t have to move countries to change your life. You can do it right where you are.

So… how much can your life change in just one year?
