Should Teenagers be allowed to Steem?

I have ponder this very question for a few days due to the fact I have a teenage son who is constantly on or wants to be social media. I was thinking he could be online and making some money at the same time, that way he could have his own spending cash and stop nagging me for money to spend on silly things. I decided to list some pros and cons and get the opinion of the community.

PROS
*Join exciting new platform
*Better understand Steemit/block chain technology which is going to to be the future.
*Earn some money while discovering their passion
*Improve writing skills and build self esteem
*Collaborate with other like minded youths around the world

CONS
*Information posted on steemit is permanent and can not be removed
*Teenagers can be impulsive regarding posts and comments
*Teenagers may not be mature enough to respond to critiques and comments
*Posting of inappropriate pictures or stories about themselves or others
*Just because they are teenagers

After reviewing my own pros and cons, I have come to the conclusion that it should be a case by case decision. Everyone knows their children's personality and its the guardian's responsibility to determine if the child will be a benefit to the community or a distraction or worse post something on steemit that will come back to haunt them.

I hope you enjoyed this post and it provided some value. I would love to read your comment or any additional pros/cons.

I believe that a mentally mature teenager should most certainly be allowed to Steem. An opportunity to make money could be a very useful lesson as making money naturally requires managing money and that is a valuable lesson.

At present, there are some issues with what content is visible, so note that I said Mature.

I think that this is something that you can do with your teenager and at the very least, I think creating an account for your son so that he at least has a handle or a name that he wants, would also be a good little investment for future Steemit blogging as he gets older.

Good point, thanks for the comment @rebeccaryan

You are welcome. I don't have children myself, but I have been thinking about setting up accounts for each of nieces and nephews so that they will have them. I think that @papa-pepper may have set accounts up for each of his kids. You can see the value in this as time goes by.

Thanks for the info, i just checked out his page. good stuff

Great! @papa-pepper was one of the very first Steemers that I followed when I joined Steemit. He is incredibly honest and genuine. He has done very well on Steemit for himself and his family. He has taught loads of how to Steem and he has never steered me wrong. :)

I agree, i Just watched 3 of his 5 video for beginners and im so glad you pointed me in his direction. Thanks a bunch again

You are most welcome. You're well on your way @liberian and there are good people who are more than happy to help. :)

hahaha so funny liberian because i just thought of introducing this platform to my son last week but he is not that much interested. He is addicted to online gaming though. But i'm sure soon enough he will find his way to steemit.

Yes, ones his friends start talking about it; he will become interested. Thanks for checking out my post.

I think an adult person can be impulsive regarding posts and comments as well as a teen can be. So everything depends on an concrete person:)

You are right, i would feel less empathy for a adult than a child.
