Why Minnows and Dolphins will shape the face of Steemit.
"With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility"
Many people on Steemit are disheartented by the fact that a whale can upvote anything, and send it skyrocketing into the front page. To them, it simply doesn't seem fair that their vote counts for so little.
But are they right?
To an extent, they are.
Yes, a minnow's vote may be only a couple dozen cents at most. And a dolphin's vote may be a few dollars at most. Compared to a whale, though, whose votes can easily swing payouts into the thousands of dollars, these values seem like a drop in the big pond that houses all of these whales.
However . . .
Dolphins and minnows MATTER.
The whales swimming around here are people too. They're people with jobs, families, and a whole world of responsibilities. They simply can not be on Steemit 24/7, looking for quality content that Steemit is all about.
This is where dolphins and minnows come in to help.
Whales don't always have time. It's up to dolphins and minnows (the majority of the community) to show the whales what we, as a community, think is good content.
Our votes may not carry much monetary value behind them, but we hold immense power by showing the whales of Steemit exactly what we think deserves to be on the front page.
Our time will come.
Good luck becoming a whale!
