The cheetah bot really sucks

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

What is this fucking cheetah bot good for? Its totally regular for news sites to repost articles literally, from AP, Reuters, whatever news wire they pick up a story from. Even on Facebook, you'll read the same story literally on hundreds of channels sometimes. Not only news, anything is reposted, thats how it spreads across the network.

Is this supposed to be a social media network? The owners here don't seem to get the mechanics of social media at all. Its "spread the word", rather not "look at me, look at me, I got to have some of your attention. I am God, the one and only creator of important shit"

Instead you should be grateful to have aggregators reposting important messages. It could attract readers to come here first, to read the news. Instead they are presented with lame shit nobody would ever read or follow if it was published on Facebook. Keep on pissing on each others shoes and you'll ride it into oblivion.

It could rather do the opposite. If it finds a story on the net several times, it could be an important one and it could then look whether its on Steemit already, and if not, upvote the first instance nicely. The more I think about it, the more sense it makes. You should reward people posting existing articles with kind of a workers fee, if it is the first instance on Steemit. That way you would get almost all stories available on other networks PLUS some of the blogging crap you're so fond of
