Is Social Media war Imminent? ( Facebook vs Steemit)

Its common knowledge that facebook is the number one social media outfit populated mainly by youths around the world. According to the company, it has over 1.65 billion active users that spend an average of 60minute a day on the site! That is a huge numbers but the real deal is that Facebook represents the true meaning of what a centralist/capitalists company stands for.
As reported by Selina Wang in Bloomberg,

“Facebook Inc. Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg gave cryptocurrency enthusiasts a little optimism for the new year.
Zuckerberg referenced cryptocurrencies in a posting Thursday in which he laid out how he will spend 2018 trying to correct persistent problems -— including the proliferation of hate speech and misinformation -— that have dogged his wildly popular social network for the past two years.
“There are important counter-trends to this -- encryption and cryptocurrency -- that take power from centralized systems and put it back into people’s hands,” Zuckerberg wrote. “But they come with the risk of being harder to control. I’m interested to go deeper and study the positive and negative aspects of these technologies, and how best to use them in our services.”
Furthermore, Zuckerberg isn’t the only Facebook executive expressing interest in the space. David Marcus, the company’s vice president of messaging products, joined the board of Coinbase Inc., one of the largest crypto exchanges, late last year.
“I’ve been involved with, and fascinated by cryptocurrencies since 2012, and I’ve witnessed how Coinbase has started democratizing access to this new asset class,” Marcus said on Coinbase’s blog Dec. 12.
So, what all this may mean for the digital currency world remains to be seen.

***Is Facebook planning steemit downfall & trying to fight back for its dying reputation?

For me, I do not trust the statement of Facebook CEO however, I am certain Steemit will crush Facebook with a little stone like David did to Goliath. From the above statement of Facebook CEO, it is evident that he is trying to get back its dying reputation and according to him, get facebook back to the people and win back the trust of billions of users, but is he being honest or is it because of what outfits like steemit which is still in its beta is doing, and can he win this war against decentralized outfit like steemit with its huge market cap and billions of users as against steemit with far less market cap and users? are we about to witness another epic battle of the little boy "David" with a catapult as againt Goliath with a huge amory? Below points will shed more light into why steemit will be a giant killer of facebook!

For starters, it is a well known fact that although steemit is still in beta, however, many steemians like myself use Facebook to educate a lot of Facebook users on how they can make a good living and get their privacy back using steemit. On a personal note, I have over 4 pages on Facebook totaling above 200k followers but could not reach 1% of my followers if I do not use huge amount of dollars to pay & promote for my post to reach them. This means that they are useless to me. For most users who do not know and easily fall victim to those asking for money to advertise on their Facebook pages, If a user has for example over 100k page followers on Facebook, it does not mean the user has the ability to reach all the followers like Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin, reddit etc, rather the main deal is how many of the followers are talking about the page? Funny enough if you miss out being active for few days, those talking about your page posts after a fresh post might be less than 200! As such, for most celebrities who were using Facebook with millions of followers, they have to pay through their nose to reach their fans, little wonder they ended up in twitter and or instagram! Well, this is not all...

It has taken a network which was once a freewheeling, intellectually-focussed place for the exchange of information and views and turned it something resembling the future that was imagined for TV in the early 90s. Facebook dominates the online sphere, dumbs down debate, smothers other media companies and brings out the worst in people.

More so, using Facebook exposes your privacy to the company in such manner you wouldnt belief. With facebook, you can stalk someone and follow all their activities. Intellectual folks and serious minded people avoid facebook as its overtaken by freaks and people who prefer to show off their fake lifestyle without knowing who is monitoring them and their family.

-Facebook is where you can dump any fake information, plagiarize/copy and paste with no checks at all thereby killing intellectual property. However, steemit offers protection to genuine content creators where their works are secured by the blockchain.
-Once you have a new account in Facebook, you are like a sitting dock to their high handedness as if you try and reach many followers or join many groups withing the few days you got registered, your account will instantly be blocked which does not occur in steemit. This is making many folks who have tried out both make a better choice which is steemit.

Both are social media outfits where folks register for free and interact with one another, sharing photos, events, book reviews , travels, etc. However, Steemit is decentralized outfits where originality and genuine contents reigns supreme and many content creators and free lance journalists are finding a home in steemit.

Unlike Facebook, Steemit offers incentives and rewards for posts and shares revenues with the community members while in Facebook, the investors take all while members do all the work! Which is synonymous to human slavery! This very point is what is killing Facebook gradually as many are dumping it like an old rag and embracing steemit with happiness and satisfaction.

Steemit gives many hope especially from 3rd world countries where folks connect and empower one another through their contents and post raising revenues to pay bills and help family and community but this is a different case with facebook. As posted by a great steemian @gavvet few days ago, we are seeing huge members from Africa like top 10 most active countries, Nigeria came 9th and 3rd most active city is Lagos! While Venezuela came 10th See post here . This means folks in many developing countries are finding Steemit an avenue to better their life to the detriment of Facebook.

Steemit offers freedom to the members where you can share and liaise freely with folks without fear or hindrance unlike Facebook that sensors and monetizes your page reach. Most users in Facebook censors their followers and reach as such, you cannot reach or like their pages without express permission from them.

Steemit protects users from hate speech, racism and slander speeches while in Facebook, as explained above, does not protect users and its where hate speech & racism plus bullying reigns supreme!

With all these few points outlined above, I am confident without fear or favor that Steemit can stand anything Facebook has in-stock going forward being that Steemit has a loving community that backs it and in cryptocurrency, without community backing, you are going nowhere!
