💁 My Journey: I am certainly not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree LOL! but I have been on Steemit for 2 years now after being told about it by my two sons @gavinthegreat and @mmckersie , and in that time I have built up over 5300 Awesome Steemit Followers and a Reputation of 70.69 ( check yours at "steemworld.org" ) In about a year I was actually a Dolphin with over 11,000 Steem Power saved up, untill I was laid off for 7 months and had to power most of it down. Thank You For Saving Me Steemit!

💁In that time I made a lot of mistakes and actually lived through a couple of big flag wars a year ago, Wont be the first, Wont be the last, It's a Steemit thing!
But I lived and learned along the way, and will for sure keep learning every day. You need to be patient and persistent "Rome Was Not Built In A Day!" I started on Steemit in July of 2016 with O money O Followers and was new to the internet ( could never afford it or a computer back then), I only been to Facebook to talk with family back east but never liked it, and never go there anymore. I was never on any other social media sites and i'm still not except for Steemit!

🚫 Tips On What NOT To Do On Steemit To Gain Upvotes + Followers!
🚫 (#1) Do NOT ask or Beg for Upvotes, Resteems or ask people to go to your blog and check out all your stuff and "Please upvote my stuff" OR "I upvoted you, please upvote me back!" OR "Follow for Follow / I followed you,follow me back!" Once you have been here for awhile you will see how annoying it is when it starts happening to you!
3 REASONS:
🔵(1) Its Spamming, which is very frowned upon here.
🔵(2) Upvotes for Upvotes are generally not equal. If my account is worth more then yours then so is my upvote, and with only 10, 100% upvotes per day I like to spread out my votes as fairly as possible without lowering my vote by to much so that its worth more for everyone. You may vote on a persons awesome story or post that truely deserves then expect them to upvote you back for a single picture with no story or a shit post, not equal or fair at all!
🔵(3) Same with follows and followers. You should be careful to follow and choose followers that are like minded and will support you for the long haul ( something I didn't do but learned later ) as you support each other and grow, so will your wallet, so try to choose some Big steemians along with others ( whales/Dolphins) that are like minded to follow and Upvote/Comment And get to know them, soon they might do the same back, just don't beg or ask them to!
☑ HINT: It's better to say something like this as an example :
🔵 I loved your Meme / Post etc, hahaha, so true! I totally agree and made a similar meme / post / story earlier. Thanks for sharing with us, I am following you now! ( only do this when you have a post thats related to the topic.)
"This way people are more likely to go to your blog and see your recent post / meme / story etc., as your not spamming or begging them to do it, and they will be more likely to upvote plus follow you, instead of flagging or blocking you! Good luck to you , this will definitely help you moving forward."
💁💲Once the price of steem starts going back up, more people will return/join. steemit, which will help you gain more awesome followers bringing more upvotes and steem into your wallet!💲💁
🚫 (#2) Do NOT Drop links in peoples comments.
REASON:
🔵 People don't like it! Its another form of spamming and if your doing it all the time its sure way to get no followers or upvotes. and possibly flagged/Blocked. Its different if you only do it very seldom and with someone you know really well, or if its totally related to what they posted about, and you know they would love to check it out or see it!
🚫(#3) Do NOT Whine, cry , complain or start revenge flagging.
🔵This is a sure fire way to get less followers, O Upvotes and more flags/blocks. Keeping an upbeat and positive attitude will surely attract the right types of Followers like (Dolphins/Whales etc)That have a lot of money invested in the platform doing well! and this is accomplished with a Positive attitude!

Oh yes! thanks for your kind reply ! I returned to work full time around February but had gotten so fqr behind that I am still trying to catch up, and will be laid off again at the end of September when the security contract ends, but will at least have enough hours to collect Employment insurance , but it sure does not pay enough to barely survive on ! Building out a social network presence is hard work, especially if your IRL network doesn't use the same network. That's why Karen's advice is so important. Begging for followers doesn't work, but talking to people and getting to know them does.
It also helps if you can find a community of people with similar interests. I'm one of the admins of @opgaming, a gaming oriented steemit group. It's not exactly the fastest growing, but we have members who help each other out. There are groups like mine for all sorts of interests, so definitely join one (or three) if you haven't already.

Such an inspirational post @karenmckersie :-) I'm referred to as a dinosaur by my siblings who always say I'm so bad with technology and computers (which is actually true!), but I'm not doing so bad by actually starting life on the internet through steemit! I'll hang in and hope for the best with my posts, now that I'm actually making more effort!

You know what @karenmckersie... You just gave me big hope.. I've had the account but i wasn't active because i lost my phone some days after i registered. However, i have decided to be hopeful, i joined the photography world on steemit and I've been trying to make an excellent mark. You know that feeling when you don't win a contest, aaargh, i just move on and try to take better photos.

When i begged you for upvotes and comments and at that time when you replied back saying that "spamming these things will not make you sucessfull,you have to work hard " at that time i realised that i was doing work in wrong way but after that time i am doing genuine work and now i am making little bit progress on daily basis.
