Do you know Chuseok and Songpyon?(Korean Thanksgiving Day)
Today is Korean Thanksgiving Day ‘Chuseok’
It is one of the largest traditional holiday in Korea with New Year's Day.
Three days including the previous day and the next day are legal holidays. (Sometimes 3~10 days)
It's a little different from Thanksgiving.
Before the harvest, When you have passed the critical point of farming, you have to take the grain beforehand and sacrifice to your ancestors. It is the meaning of 'Chuseok' to pray for good harvest.
Summer farming has already finished, and the weather is also right in front of the big event of autumn harvest.
Therefore, 'Chuseok' has meaning of the origin of the good harvest, but it is not meaningful for Thanksgiving like Thanksgiving.
In 2018, Chuseok was given a five-day holiday from Saturday. (Korea time)
Everyone is spending time with their family in their own home town ~
There is a 'Songpyon' as a food to eat during 'Chuseok'.
Rice cake that is made by kneading rice early.
It is a round shaped traditional food containing sesame seeds, sugar, salt, beans, red beans, chestnut, jujube, and mung bean.
It is an attractive food that is sweet, soggy and chewy.
And there is a saying that "If you make a beautiful 'Songpyon', a pretty child is born"
So I will go to enjoy the holiday season ~
Everyone has a good day ~~ ^^
