A lot of people say that investing in the stock market or into cryptocurrency is like gambling.
I believe that if you have no insiders it is really like gambling. Or, if you see it in another way it is about risk management. But this post is really about online gambling and what people promise on the web.

I have read a post from @benjiberigan that he had found a way to make 100% free bitcoin on a website and that he had made free bitcoins for over 3 days doing “online probably fair gambling”. He claims that he have made about 100 dollars on his first day.

Because it was on “steemit” I was curious about the truth of this story and decided to test it. Of course I was skeptic, everybody knows that in gambling you always lose in the long run…
But like you know, reputation on steemit is a big thing.

So for the purpose of science and for the sake that more people can learn from my investigation, I invest 0.1BTC ($60) on gambling to learn how it works and to write this article.
It is not a large amount, so it was fun.

I played this for 3 days and have documented in Excel sheet all the plays for 2 days.
In total over 500 wins.

In his method he is betting with 0.01% of his total account and a payout of 100x profit.
That gives him a chance to have 464 lost without losing his total account. To recover his investment he needs approx. 100 wins without 1 lose. After every approx. 20 wins he makes a white draw of the wining amount +20% of his total account. He needs to make 5 x white draws to reach green numbers.

So I used his strategy and played it. After the 20th play I made my first 20% win and made my first white draw. That was nice and it looked like his method worked.

After the 28th play I had a lost roll of over 464 and lost my total account.
Ok, proved. It doesn’t work.

I commented on his post and wrote that his method doesn’t work. He was very astounded about my loss and as he believes so much in this method he sent me some BTC for my lost.

He send me a total of 0.01 BTC

So I decided to give it a second chance. New deposit and new play. Won in 200 plays.
I got recovered and at the moment it goes to green comes a roll lost over 467. Back to 0.

The next day I tried the same in order to reach some green numbers.
After the 18th play I had my first loss. Back to 0.

After that, like the first day. When you recover your investment you have a large loss.
So it’s very difficult to get to green numbers and the risk of losing 100% of your investment is always there.

I think @benjiberigan is not a liar, but if he has won with that method he just had luck and he is going to lose it in a long run.

Be careful when you see on the web, posts about easy o free money. And if you decide to try, make an effort to report everything and create a post to prove that it doesn’t work.
