Can Steemit Revive Online Writing? (Part 2)
In a previous post, Can Steemit Revive Online Writing?, I began to address some issues with modern blogging and online writing and whether or not Steemit might be able to bring it to its full glory. I'll be delving deeper into that today.
It was brought to my attention by @zhanmusi that there are a number of limitations based on time with Steemit. Due to the short period during which posts are seen on the new tab, the amount of time that one can earn from upvotes, and the differences in time zones across the world, it can be fairly difficult to reach a wide audience without a good base of followers.
I believe that posts should earn from upvotes for at least two weeks after their original time of submission. That would give people the 24 hour boom and some extra time for people to find older content.
Additionally, a feature that brings you to a random post that has been made within a certain time frame should be implemented. The ability to mark certain categories would also add to this, as people would be able to explore random posts in topics that they like and find content that wasn't posted during a time they'd usually be online.
Between these two, I think that the time zone differences could be countered quite easily. People would earn slightly more from their content from having a wider audience. This would likely cause a decrease in how often people think they should be posting to keep people reading their content, so the increase in revenue would be balanced by the decrease in posts without drastically changing the value of SBD and other Steemit currencies.
Thanks for reading!
