Why not to Power up

in #steemit7 years ago

I saw a lot of people who powered up their posts.

Don't do the same ! You will loose money!

Steemit rewards are calculated in a different way. I mean the default 50%/50% is not 50% and 50% in dollars.

For example you have $200 at a post , 25% take curators and 75% take the author. So $50 goes to curators and $150 goes to the author.

Current Steem price = $4.4
Current SBD price = $3.90

So if your post is powered up 100% your $150 will be divided at the current Steem price and you will get 34.09 Steem Power (1 Steem = 1 Steem Power).

But if you use the default 50% Steem Power / 50% SBD you will get more rewards in dollars . See why :

▶ 50% of $150 it's 17.045 Steem Power

▶ 50% of $150 it's 75 SBD

If you convert to dollars you will have $17.045 * $4.4 = $75 and 75 SBD * $3.9 = $292.5.

So if you add $75 + $292.5 = $367.5

You will have $367.5 instead of 150 it is almost x2.5 times.

Don't Power Up 100%!!! You will loose a lot!
