How to POWER UP and Why I'm Doing It
Today is a good day my friends. My vote is now worth 0.02 cents. Woohoo! I don't know about you but that makes me excited!
A higher value vote means more rewards for you too so get excited people. I've traded my STEEM DOLLARS for STEEM POWER for the very first time. And now I have enough power to make my vote worth more. If you’d like to do the same and you’re not sure how, please do read on.

How do I convert Steem Dollars to Steem?
See that 3 lined menu button up the top? On the right. Next to your profile picture. Yeah that's it. Click that.
In the drop down menu, select Currency Market.
It will take you to a screen that looks like this:
Under BUY STEEM in the PRICE section, enter the price you would like to pay. You can either select the lowest asking price or enter a price manually if you'd prefer.
The AMOUNT section will automatically fill once you've entered information into the TOTAL box so skip that.
In the TOTAL box, enter how many STEEM DOLLARS you'd like to sell. You can choose your entire SBD balance by clicking the available green text or again, you can enter it manually.
Click BUY STEEM and the below screen will appear:
- To finalise the transaction, click OK.
If you chose the lowest asking price option, you should see the funds in your wallet instantly. If you entered the price manually, you will have to wait until someone accepts your order. Once the funds are available in your wallet, you can then power up!
How do I convert Steem into Steem Power I hear you ask??
In your wallet, click the drop down arrow next to your STEEM balance.
Select POWER UP.
In the AMOUNT field, enter the amount of STEEM you'd like to spend. To use your entire balance, click the blue balance text.
In the TO field, enter your username, and select OK.
- Voilà - you're done.
With all the noise going on right now, it's easy to get caught up and fed up. Earlier today, I felt disheartened with all the drama. However, I've decided to change my mindset to a more positive one. I'm excited by the possibilites and the future of Steemit - it's the reason I've powered up. I have no idea whether it's the right move or not, but I'm in it for the long run so it suits me just fine.

What was my motivation to start posting? Why haven't I given up when I used to get nothing for my posts? Does the price change my sentiment over the community?
Then I remember that it's one hell of a fun ride to post and meet awesome people around the world. So I forget about the price and concentrate on the next text.
So true @mrprofessor I was just feeling a little put off by all the recent hate being flung around. Obviously I don't know the half of it but some of the stuff I was reading was just plain gross. Someone calling someone this, someone calling the other that. Anyways best to leave it alone and concentrate on the good stuff 🙏💙😄

Yeah? Ok great news! I've read a lot of different opinions. I figured powering up would be best for me as I want to grow my account. I'm glad to hear you've been doing the same.
Your doing the right thing especially with the price so low right now, In hindsight I may have been best personally to sell a bit of steem when it was at $8, but I'm in the for the long haul. Just stay active and be sure to comment around steemit and make some friends to get noticed.
Wowza $8! That would have been a busy time on Steemit. I started here when it was around $3. Lows and highs - all part of the fun

I read yesterday that steem was as low as 6 cents last year so anything can happen. Keep powering up I say. Good for you :)
Wow...things can change so much. 6 cents is low. I wouldn't even mind if it dipped lower. Then I couod afford to buy more 😄
Yes...I thought the same myself. I was shocked to read the price had been so low only last year but it does show how quickly things can change. Definitely worth sticking around :)
