Be aware lucky steemers!!

in #steemit8 years ago

Steemers who have made a lot of steems ($) be aware when you're online. Bad guys can do whatever it takes to catch any passwords that you use to log into the server, and eventually steal your steems  by spying on you using a technique called "Man in the Middle attack". Generally, a MitM attack can be mapped as depicted below:

As you can see, the bad guy has killed the lucky steemer's original connection to Steemit server. The lucky steemer, actually "doomed to be steemer" and the server are not aware that something is turning badly; they think that they are connected to each other, when they’re actually both connected to the attacking machine. For them, everything seems to be ok, while the bad guy can sniff the victims web activity. By using tools such as arpspoof and urlsnarf, he can see all unencrypted traffic that flows between them.

Fortunately, this attack can only be performed on LAN where a protocol called ARP is used.

Be cautious when steeming on corporate networks.

My advise, don't use it all for banking or whatever you don't want to share. Big Brother is watching you!
