WHY SHOULD YOU UPVOTE POSTS ON STEEMIT??
Happy new year to you all. Hopefully this year Is going to be a great one for us steemians.
In the last few hours of this year, we have noticed there's bin a rapid pump in the price of steem and SBD and there's
Nothing but joy in our hearts.
By about 9:35pm on the 1st of January 2018, @onyemacourage a fellow steeamian in the steemit uyo community in Nigeria asked a very important question
And I had to go into a little research in other to get knowledge about is
The question was
WHY DO WE UPVOTE ON STEEMIT????
Naturally, humans are selfish and always always work towards satisfying their own personal interest.
We always want to gain in the long run.
Gain may include money,love,dreams,wishes,fame, etc.
Meanwhile, this question made steemians who were online at that moment air out their own views and suggestions on the steemit uyo whats-app group.
@ungest explained that we upvote to get curation reward.
@ubongj also said we that upvote > to increase the payout of the post and also for our benefit as well get a percentage from the pool reward too for curation>
@annieben said that we vote to encourage the author
@edikanefanga stated that we vote to make each other grow
@rachelrick said steemains upvote to promote authors post
Thereafter @onyemacourage explained that if we upvote for authors to earn, we wont vote in the long run and that’s why most steemians are being begged,
Before they upvote also he stressed that upvoting goes along way in doing good to the upvoter.
The aim of this post is to change out mindset about upvoting
##** UPVOTING IS AN INVESTMENT**
Once a post is upvoted, money doesn't leave your wallet directly or indirectly, therefore you didn’t give the author of the post money but you only upvoted it only
The steem blockchain that gives the generated cash. But note your investment has gone a long way in generating cash for the author and yourself.
You get rewarded for the energy (upvote) invested on the post.
check your voting power from time to time and make sure it doesn't go below 50%

STOPWhile I curate I like to upvote posts that teach me something or I think would be helpful to others. I know that I can get more money voting 100% on the posts that will be more popular if I am first to vote, but I don't. I save it for those that deserve the upvote for their time. But calling it an investment, I would say, is a bad way to look at it. I don't think you intend it to be, but to me it sounds like your conclusion is that you should upvote purely because the author will make money and so will you. With that type of mindset we have gotten a lot of spam and what not on steemit. it has made it almost not worth my time to sort through the nonsense. That's probably why newcomers to steemit have to beg for upvotes, the curators are so tired of weeding through the nonsense and plagiarism that we don't do it anymore.
Anyway, I gave you a 100% because it looks like you have a very active group and I like the discussion and what you have got going on over here. Hopefully you can take my experience as a curator and apply it going forward to get some followers and make some more money $$

Newbie and old folks think upvoting takes money from them but it dosent. The aim behind this piece was to explain to steemians upvoting dosent take anything thing from you.
