RE: Help me flag this guy, we can't allow this kind of abuse.

$0.12? That's it?

All those votes add up to $0.12? Seems like someone who is trying to game the system would get pretty frustrated earning so little reward for their effort. Perhaps it was worth more, but downvoting reduced the value. Who knows.

Some People are Crusaders Against SPAM

If steemians feel the need to use their voting power to downvote spammers (especially people with higher SP), that's a good option, I would encourage that since it sends a message to the spammer that upvoting your own junky posts and comments is not accepted by the Steemit community.

However most minnows don't want to waste their limited voting power to go after a spammer who will just overload us with more spam. Personally, I'd rather see that VP used to upvote GOOD content, rather than flagging the junk. My feeling is that downvoting only addresses the symptom (spam posts) but not the problem (the spammer). Flagging is antagonistic towards the spammer, which encourages him to spam all the more.

Mute is our Friend

If everyone MUTE's this guy, he'll never get a real vote and we wont have to ever see his spammy posts and comments. He'll give up eventually. With a significant number of people pressing MUTE, it's like being shunned from the community. We minnows never have to see the SPAM and the spammer will never get a vote from us. His spam will never be worth more than a few cents. I predict he (and people like him) will become discouraged eventually and go away.

I wrote a similar post about the benefits of the MUTE button.
Mute Them Don't Flag Them

That's my two cents, anyway. Take it or leave it.

That's actually quite a good suggestion, here's my upvote.
