Steemit Needs More Advertising

We Need To Become Self-Sustaining

As a fellow Steemian, there is nothing more that I would like to see on this platform right now than a more robust channel for advertising. Sure, the clean feel of the existing platform is a refreshing glimpse of what the untouched prairie of the wild must have looked like to the pioneers. But speaking as one who is looking forward to the promising future of what Steemit has to offer, retaining and ultimately building up the value of its underlying blockchain and currencies stands as a necessary and ongoing priority.

More so, this should not be an obligation or burden that is hoisted onto the backs of those being introduced into the system as the current framework encourages. Presently, Steemit revolves around the introduction of new fiat from newcomers who make initial investments into Steem Power thereby locking in value and elongating the extraction period via a longer term commitment.

Yet without a consistent flow of capital coming in from interested parties who are not also motivated to extract even more monetary value on the way out, the system may not scale effectively. Over time, a suppressed value of STEEM/SBD could deter new users from participating and stall out the overall growth of the community or stifel its vibrant diversity of topics and opinions.

Advertisers are very much needed to prop up the demand for these basic building blocks of the Steemit reward pool. Their willingness to buy STEEM for product placement can reward the community as a whole. Via channels akin to existing promoted posts function, the ability to burn SBD to control the inflation rate of STEEM/SBD helps to uplift the reward value for all.

One way in which I am currently helping the community in this challenge is by introducing advertiser-based capital through external means. Via an advertiser-backed service that let's me watch videos, fill out surveys, and complete offers, I am able to effectively get paid in various cryptocurrency such as STEEM or SBD. Personally, I choose to leave open several videos with advertisements built in to essentially "mine" SBD by letting my computer do the work. This requires the advertiser to buy STEEM/SBD to pay me even though they are not using Steemit, thereby driving up overall demand.
