How to loose a potential new steem user?
I was talking about uses of blockchain with a friend and the conversation went on uses for social media.
Of course I had to explain Steem!
My friend was very enthusiast and we decide to go to steemit for her to create an account.
When looking at the recent posts we open a random one, and here what the first thing she saw:
More vote than views! and not a small difference...
We look at others posts and a lot have the same issue!
She now think that this website is just another scam... and doesn't want to create an account anymore.
And I can't blame her for that.
That sucks hope she comes back.
It really depends what you want from it.
Ask her to post something on steemit, a photo with a few words, anything. Then have her post the same thing on facebook, exact same thing.
Come back in 24 hours and see which gave her any money. And how many like she got compared to vote or views.

Steemit is not easy. It takes time and effort for most of us to make a buck. All things in life worth having take time and effort.
Many posts are just a picture without text, often indicated as being a one minute read. People simply vote on the cover picture, particularly if the reputation is above 60.
It is true, however, that many people are clicking simply in the hope of getting lucky and picking up a few extra dollars through a chance connection with a posting that turns out to be popular. And of course some people have assigned their voting to others, or to robots in the hope of picking up some small change. This type of automatic voting was foreseen in the Steemit White Paper. Over time the automatic voting will cancel itself out, as they spread their voting over a much weaker range of quality content. Manual, carefully consider voting on the other hand will be focused on high quality content, and thus draw a disproportionate share of the curration rewards.

The views counter is broken on top of bots doing autovotes. Maybe it should be taken off till fixed.
