 STEEMIT has been expanding and evolving rapidly. It now has over 90 000 users and author rewards are better and better distributed among the contributing users. Also steps are being implemented to make curation rewards more accessible to users with low STEEM POWER. Nevertheless STEEMIT is losing steam at the moment as the STEEM value is at its lowest point since it went public.

1.  Build a list of followers as people who follow you, see your posts in the ‘feed’ section which makes them more likely to upvote you. Only around 5%-20% will usually upvote you so you will need at least around 400 followers to go consistently trending.

 2.  Build your reputation to 50+..Authors of all posts which go trending have a reputation above 50, most are in the 60+ region 

3. Hack: the more upvotes you gain in a short time the more likely it is that other people will upvote you. Bring friends to STEEMIT so they can give you a number of upvotes immediately after you publish a post.

 4. Be mindful of when you post as people are not equally generous with upvotes on all days. Some statistics say Fridays are the worst and Sundays are the best. Also the time of day counts – it seems that around 2.00 GMT is a good time to post on STEEMIT as many trending posts are published a few hours before or after that time.

 5. Make your posts 1000 to 2000 words long as longer posts are usually looked upon more favorably. Though occasionally short and sweet posts (around 200 words) go trending as well, but not for the highest rewards.

6. Make your posts original. Steemians (users of STEEMIT) hate duplicate content and copycatting. Be original, be novel and you will reap the rewards.

 7. Use pictures but use original pictures as the same as the above applies. If you cannot make completely original pictures use 2 or 3 pictures from the internet and combine them into one

 8. Promote your posts on steemit.chat and steemboost to gain more upvotes. Do not spam but still post the link to your latest post there every few hours. While this will not bring you a really big number of upvotes it does have a cumulative effect which can eventually bring a snowball effect which can make your post go trending.

 9. Promote your post by submitting the link to it in the comments of other people’s posts. Just make sure that the posts and comments are relevant so you will not be considered as a spammer.

10.  Keep your posts active by answering people’s comments to your posts. This keeps your post visible in the STEEMITs active section which increases the likelihood that your post will be seen and upvoted. 

           Hack: Bring friends to STEEMIT so they can give you a number of comments throughout the day to keep your post in the active section.

 11. Use clickbait titles to draw in readers. Some readers even curate just based on the post title and your reputation number so make your titles interesting to get their upvote.

12.  Be mindful of the tags as some curators upvote only the popular tags so choose your STEEMIT tags wisely. And avoid using unrelated or vaguely related tags as you will get flagged if you do.

                  Tip: if you have low STEEM POWER add ‘minnowsunite’ tag as your last tag to get more upvotes.

 13. Use formatting – there is no definite correlation between extensive use of formatting and not using formatting but we believe it will become more and more important as more STEEMIT users are becoming accustomed to using it.
