How to Post on Twitter and Increase your Chances of Engagement.
Steemit Users Have Been Asking How They Should Properly Tweet.
Twitter and Facebook are easily the most important social media platforms for Steemit users to share their content. Most of you read my article on, how to post to Facebook. Facebook is great but I personally believe we can make greater inroads on Twitter.
Why is Twitter so Important for the Success of Steemit?
1. Twitter is the, "Bullhorn of Business and News".
2. Public Tweets can be seen by anyone.
3. Hashtags increase the reach of tweets.
4. Tweets are indexed by Google!
5. We can easily build a follower base on Twitter with tools like Crowdfire.
6. You can follow users of particular brands or users.
7. People on Twitter are more likely to Retweet content.
8. Twitter is where Crypto Currency companies share their news.
9. It is easy to do community outreach to Influencers.
How to Properly Tweet.
Twitter has five main components that can be used in a Tweet. You don't have to use all five but I recommend you use at the minimum 4 out of the 5. You have 140 characters so I recommend you use no more than 120 characters so that users can Retweet with all the text.
1. Title of the post, shorten if necessary.
2. Mention the author or brand. For example my Twitter is @RandyHilarski. The person or brand you mention might Retweet you but don't expect it.
3. Link to the content, shorten links with tools like Buffer (optional).
4. Hashtags, I recommend 2 relevant tags. For example for this post I would use #SocialMedia, #HowTo, #Tips or #Twitter.
5. Images, Gifs or Video. If you use an image you can also tag users or brands in the photo. Photos increase engagement.
A Properly Formatted Tweet.
Large Twitter Cards are Coming to Steemit.
Yesterday I was told that the Dev team is adding large Twitter summary cards to the next Steemit update. This is great news for the community. Currently we have the small image summary card. I believe the large Twitter summary card will greatly increase engagement with our content on Twitter. See my post about Twitter Cards.
