Steem is inundated with too many garbage useless textual posts and random images. the primary motivation is $$ and hence the quality of the content is extremely subjective and suspect. The few who make money have been the early adopters and whales who can simply up vote and curate content they control. Most join, post shit, get zero votes, and give up once the monetary compensation is nullified
