Words with full of anger and hateful will be spoken by a person with extreme pain. Due to pain, he speaks words with bitterness and blame making us feel uncomfortable and want to avoid. Wanting understand and transform anger, he must learn the practice of listening with compassion and using loving speech. There is a Bodhisattva who has the ability to listen with great compassion, that is Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara. He has to practice listening deeply like the Bodhisattava so that we can give concrete guidance when an angry person comes to ask for help to re-establish communication.
Listening with compassion can help others alleviate suffering. Although having lots of goodwill, it is difficult for us to listen deeply if we do not practice listening with compassion. If we can sit still and listen to that person with compassion for just one hour, we can alleviate that person's suffering greatly. We listen for the sole purpose of giving the other person a chance to express their feelings and relieve suffering.
Must listen very attentively. We must listen with our ears, with our eyes, with our body and soul. If we just pretend to listen, if we don't listen fully, the other person will immediately notice and it will be difficult to alleviate suffering. Always keep a mind of compassion while listening. To do this, while listening, we must follow the breath mindfully and maintain the intention to help the other person.
Listening with compassion is a very profound practice. We listen without judgment, without reproach. We listen only because we want to relieve the other person of suffering. The other person can be my father, mother, son, daughter, wife or husband. Practicing deep listening can certainly help others transform their anger and suffering
