STEEMIAN DO'S AND DON'T FOR BETTER RESPONSIBLE COMMUNITY

Steemit platform has been a gold mine to many investors nowadays when originally, this platform was made for content creators to be rewarded for every content they make in the platform. The idea is great and honestly it’s one of the best in the internet.

I think our social platform can be much better than Facebook or Twitter in shorter time than we imagine. We reached the top 1000 website already in just a span of time and being on top 500 is not just a dream but turning into reality.

I definitely believe steemit will be one of the most valuable social media platform on the planet in less than 10 or 20 years. I know it’s very long for others that’s why the responsibility of each steemian to protect this platform from abuse becomes heavier as time goes by. There’s always a rotten apple in a basket of an apple isn’t there?

Responsible Steemian Do:

1. Posts with “sense”

I think some whales in this platform are consistently telling that everyone should be responsible enough to check if their post is worth the upvote before they post it in steemit. That is a good thing! The objective of the platform is to produce quality and valuable content and in return, content creators will be rewarded in form of steem, steem power or steem dollar.

I don’t think a post with one nonsense photo of your favorite actor no matter how popular he is would not add value to the platform unless maybe if it’s a meme. I think it would be better if we posts something useful like tutorials maybe or something can solves someone’s specific problem. Something that can we call “Knowledge” is what we should look at.

2. Be Sensitive Enough on What You’re Posting

If you have not read the FAQ yet, please read it carefully. There are some limitations on what you can post and one of “not allowed” or rather “not quite accepted by the community” is posting nude and porn. You should be a responsible adult by now.

Of course, this world can be cruel and unfair sometimes but steemit I guess is not a good place to post your hate messages and violent demonstrations. If you’re planning to do something like that in the future, then I would suggest put it somewhere else. We are striving to become a better community and hatred cannot be coexist with peace and prosperity.

3. Resteem and Upvote Good Valuable Posts

Some people think that posting other posts will hurt their investment because they’re giving away almost half of the potential reward they could get on each of their vote. This is actually how I felt before but the reality is, if you vote only yourself and don’t spread the votes in the platform, then there might come a time when no one votes your posts but you. That defeats the purpose of the platform to be the best social platform in the planet and it’s not a good thing for any of us here.

I still believe there are more good people than bad. Besides, if you vote others, there’s still a chance they’ll vote you back due to whatever reasons. I see it happening everyday here so it’s not so bad to share upvotes given the posts you upvoted deserve it.

4. Include Proper Tags in Every Post

Tags are placed in every post to specify what the post is all about or related into. It would be a pain in the eye to see a photo and price graphs all over the post with the tag “poetry”, isn't that right?

Having the right tag in your posts could also increase the chance of getting higher rewards because like-minded people can easily see your posts. Not all of them might give you vote sure some will so do it properly!

5. Write What You Know

Would you like to buy a book with the author who don’t know what he’s saying? I guess you wouldn’t spend your dollar for such crap! Steemit don’t have much official rules on what you can write but let's do it responsibly. This is a free world so it’s better to write about what you know for the community will see it. They will recognize you if you are that good in what you’re writing and condemn you if not with their powerful downvotes. I don't think none of us here would want that for ourselves.

On the other hand . . .

Responsible Steemian DON’T:

1. Spam nonsense posts and comments

Imagine you’ve worked for days to create your original stunning masterpiece. It could be a novel or a piece of art like painting that you’ve worked for days and nights. You displayed it somewhere maybe in a public plaza or museum then a man passed by and said “nice” or “” and walked away without even looking closely at it. Would you be happy?

This is a friendly advice. Some whales in the platform are hunting for those spam posts and comments. I guess you don’t want to be in their blacklist right? Think ten times before you execute your evil plans.

2. Copy and Paste Without Proper Credits (Plagiarism)

Sorry for the word but we don’t give a S*** for a piece of photo from somewhere on the internet then you claim it’s yours. Again, some whales will hunt you down with their downvote bullets and you want to get hit by them because it really hurts.

This platform is not just social media but a competition of attention as well. Those posts with original content are much favoured than those from copy-paste hobby. Try to create your own because it’s much better for you and for the whole platform.

3. Vote only “yourself”

Let me keep this short. Greed won’t take you anywhere aside from a treasure hidden underneath a deep and dark pit. Be careful not to be deceived by those shiny gold for their might come a time when the earth above that deep pit you’re in will fall on you and you got nothing to do but lie down with your eyes closed and never to open again.

4. Do anything that can Destroy the Integrity of the Platform

If you’re looking around and reading some posts here, you’ll see that lots of meetups are being organized which is a good thing. That means these people are doing great effort to let the outside real world community to be aware of steemit. Don’t do anything stupid to waste these great efforts. It’s no use badmouthing about steemit and crypto with your evil friends that doesn’t realize the power and potential of blockchain technology.

I would rather let others laugh at me now and go with the flow of innovation of science and technology so later I could laugh at them for they did not do a simple thing like researching the word “blockchain” in Google.

5. Expect to be RICH IN ONE NIGHT

This is I think, is the most dangerous thought you could ever had in any field of business. If you think you’ll be rich in one night with steemit, then that quite hard to do if you’re not rich already. You can buy votes from bots though which one of the advantages of this platform. It’s not illegal to use bots here so go ahead.

This “Do’s and Don’t” are just in my opinion based on my experience so far. It might be different from you point of view but it’s OK. That’s one thing good in life. We got to choose what to believe in.

Thanks so much for taking some time to read it.

I'm loving steemit, it's simplicity is definitely a double edged sword however. While I like that the interface is not complicated, it could do with a few more of the industry accepted features in social media, one small example is DM's. Is there a roadmap somewhere for future improvements? Maybe some of these features already exist and I'm just not paying attention.

Steemit platform is still very young so I'm pretty sure there will be lots of improvements in the future. We'll just have to focus on what it can offer "now"
