Hello, I'm new here - Few quick questions for all Steemers (or is it Steemians?)

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

I'm still really new to all this Steemit business and even to the crypto world as a whole for that matter... I decided to dive in head first:

...Except I'm not as ripped as the guy in the photo. :)

Anyways I do have some questions for the residents: How active is the development of this site? Is there a place where people actually talk and provide feedback? How and where are the developers of Steem / Steemit active in the community?

I am still confused about the mechanics of this game, but it looks very fun. Even tho at the moment of writing I can already see flaws in the system, I think there's great potential here.

A lot of nice things may come to those who wait? Maybe... At least I hope so! If there's one thing I really want to see in the future is a dark theme for the user interface. While the bright white colors are really cool I still think that dark is way cooler.

Love the community so far!

My friend's welcome to steemit. I recommend that you make a post with the introduceyourself tag. That will give you greater visibility and will help you to grow faster. Also you can use steemitchat.com. Good luck!

Thanks bruh! I'll definitely write and get more content on here in the following days. I have literally just started. I have to say that the very first impression was not very good. But after using the site for a while I can see this thing pick up if the devs make some good moves.

Join the discord server underneath our post. Then announce your presence in the hello channel and your steemit username. We can help speed up newbies to steemit knowledge that can actually takes months to realize. Knowing this basics however, an your steemit journey will be one of more bliss and success!

On your home page, you can click on the top right and a slew of info-related links come up.
There is a lot of activity going on for continuous development of steemit.com. The CEO is @ned. Also check out @andrarchy . you can also click on the topics you are interested in - for instance, the hashtags you used...click on them and you'll get lots of info from lots of people way more knowlegable than me :-)
Good luck!

Thanks! After looking around a bit I did manage to find some information. I guess we'll see in time anyways. Another question I had is how do you actually down vote here? I mean some posts are just trash and don't really deserve... I think down voting is actually almost equally important as the normal "good" voting.

I also saw that you have made some nice content, even tho gardening doesn't interest me personally. But u have been a member for about a year. Congrats on that... Can you recommend some tutorial about the site? If you know of any good Youtube videos to start with? The wallet thingy is especially confusing. :( I mean there's STEEM, STEEM POWER, STEEM DOLLARS, SAVINGS. All so confusing. :/ Then the voting power... Any way to know more about that? My head hurts a little.

Anyhow thank you very much for your help and vote @gardenlady.

I am def not the tech-y kind and shouldn't be answering any of the questions!! I've caught on to a lot over the past year, but I'll just mangle any explanations.
I don't know of any youtube for steemit, but maybe you can get some answers over at steemit.chat (or steemitchat?)
As for downvoting...better to just ignore content you deem 'trash'...scroll on by!

There is lots of great stuff here that gets people involved. Food challenges, and meme challenges. There are artists and photographers and some excellent writers. Someone started a bookgroup. Oh, and there is a ton on crypto and steem.

You can start by upvoting and commenting. Also a #introduceyourself post is a good way to get some followers and get some help/explanations.

Have fun!

I'll definitely try thanks. Do you do voice chat?

How active is the development of this site? From the looks of it? Constant.

Is there a place where people actually talk and provide feedback? We all provide feed back and comments all the time just ask.

Where can I find more information about this topic and development of the project? It should be in the list of trending topics.

How and where are the developers of Steem / Steemit active in the community?
No idea. I know they are around her some where.

I am sorry for this weird topic. I am still really new to all this and even to the crypto world as a whole for that matter... I decided to dive in head first.
There are plenty of good steemers around. Follow a few. This is a good place and it lives up to its expectations.

I would post in the "introduceyourself" tag... You will get better feed back there.

Oops sorry dumb phone

There are plenty of good steemers around.

Ah yes! "Steemers" does sound much better than "Steemitors". :p
Thanks for stopping by @screenwriterml.

There have been a few convos regarding steemers vs steemians! The term steemians seems to win out!

He he Steemians sounds like a joke name to be honest. But I'm not here to judge. Although I think this is a topic of the out most importance! :o)

There is a chat room. I checked out the quick start guide. There's a lot of info there. Welcome aboard. Followed you.

Thanks bruh! The site is "steeming hot". Definitely lots to read about.

There's really no definitive place I could point you to that answers all the questions you might have - I'd say just keep asking questions and keep reading. Just being involved within the community sheds a lot of light on what's been happening, what's being developed, and who people involved might be.

We did recently get an FAQ which might answer some of your questions, it's pretty massive.

https://steemit.com/faq.html

To answer the few you've asked:

  • There's a lot of development happening, has been for the last year. Multiple teams and dozens of individuals are all working on steem related projects.
  • Feedback can just be posted to steem itself. There's pretty much a tag for everything, and if there's not, you can just make one.
  • How/where are the developers? Steemit Inc is a US based company and is behind steemit.com and the blockchain itself. But we have developers from everywhere working on projects as I mentioned before.

Feel free to ask questions, whether as new posts or as replies. It's easy to miss stuff on steemit sometimes, so don't get offended if you don't get replies immediately :)

I can already see that it's a great community. There's no hurry. Time will tell the story. I guess this place might get a lot better when they make dedicated communities.

The crypto world? What's that? Haha im gonna go buy one of them dummies books today 😊

Welcome! You're going to love it. This place is amazing. There's always people chatting in steemit.chat. Stop in if you have some time.

Do I need to set up a separate account for that?

Yes, it is a separate account.
