Someond already brought that topic in the early days of Steem and so far no one with the needed skills wanted to it.
Well, it is about time it is being brought up again - I´m sure there are more people reading steemit today then it was in the early days when nobody knew what steemit was.

There is a huge barrier to entry in terms of technical skills to do this but it's definitely a plugin that people would buy if they knew they could monetize their blog that way. It would be epic
epic indeed - my wordpress is already autoposting my content to all my social medias, except steemit - It should be very very high up on the priority-list to get a kick ass steemit-plugin for wordpress.
so much work is already on the table. Private messaging, private money transfer, notifications, walkthrought tutorial and so forth. Wait 6 months to a year to see this happen.
Just help me spread this post, and we´ll have a steemit-plugin for wordpress in no time. Nothing is hard.
I think you could use RSS + @xeroc's streemian to post your WP content to Steem .
The technical skills required are not that extreme. It's just that there is no developer which know the Steem's API and the WP one. The best would be to find an insider not too bad in PHP willing to learn WP and to write this plugin than trying to teach a WP dev the Steem API.
The WP Documentation is known to many developers, and Steem´s API should not be a problem for any low-mid skilled developer to understand if it is documented correctly.
Once a developer see this post and understand how much money he can make - trust me, he´ll start making it ;)

You hit the point pretty much, there is no documentation of the API. It is only known to guys coming from BTS or insiders, but yes in itself the API is not that hard.
Why is this so hard to do? I've seen people mention the barrier to entry, but guess I don't understand it well enough to see why it's such a huge problem.
I am 100 % sure it is not hard to do. It is all API-Calls, and steemit has an API in the back there that can receive and post information already, it is just connecting the dots, so lets create some buzz around this so that developers actually see this.

It must compete its prior plugins at first. So auto posting to other social medias (FB, twitter, G+) will be a great option for its publicity.
Developers are usually not willing to take risk. If you believe in the idea, put your money behind it and pay a developer for it up front. Many software consultants will happily take your money. They do not care if you get rich and they don't. They got their money, they got their jackpot and are happy with that.
