Steemit is a blogger community in it's own original kind first of all. It doesn't need to be "new youtube" or "new facebook" because it doesn't follow the same path. Mine guess is that this community is going to atract intellectuals, freedom speakers, creative people, artists and be some sort of modern day-online renaissance Florence where people gather to share ideas, spread ideas, learn from them. Steemit doesn't need a million users posting their own pictures or what are they eating now like Face and Insta users do. Steemit should be a social media treasure to keep from kinds of profanity we witness on many other social media. Youtubers have Youtube. Why Steemians can't have Steemit? You will simply have to choose or spam this website with linking. This is my opinion. As of nsfw content... well, reporting and moderators will need to go into action, like everywhere else.
