STEEMIT | Wikileaks - "Please Suggest Journalists To Hire And Outfits To Partner With"
Today Wikileaks tweeted saying that they are 'creating a powerful new media entity in the UK' and would like to hear suggestions from the public on which 'journalists to hire and outfits to partner with'. As Steemit is a powerful new media platform full of talented writers, researchers and journalists I thought it would be the perfect place to share this. It's a great opportunity for any Steemian, new or established, who wants to further their journalism career.
As we know Wikileaks has been publishing for over 10 years now and has been 100% accurate in everything it has published. With integrity and honesty that can't be faulted it's no wonder they want to head up the creation of a powerful new media entity. Steemit is a powerful new media platform so naturally would be an ideal 'outfit' for Wikileaks to 'partner with'. The way Steemit is structured allows quality, original content to surface to the top which is a great way of organically crowd sourcing new and existing authors, journalists and content.
Personally I think Steemit would be a great platform for Wikileaks to engage in. They seem to stand for everything Steemit stands for. I'm not to sure how else they would use the Steemit platform other than posting articles but whatever the relationship I'm pretty sure it'd be a fruitful one for both. I I know @ausbitbank has started up an account for @JulianAssange so I hope one day soon Julian and @Wikileaks will join us. It would be great kudos for @Steemit too.
Maybe @JulianAssange will see the power in porting everything over onto STEEM... all the stored/future info which is currently stored on Wikileaks servers. NO worries ever of getting shut down, or continuously needing to relocate servers.

I think I need to research for a post about how this could be done technically and also ways that other groups could set themselves up to verify and host leaked documents.
I do know this... the very first, and most important step would be getting Mr. Assange to do a photo verified STEEM introduction post, obviously under the name "reserved" for him, or any other username he so chooses. Either way, it needs to be legitimized. From there, I'm sure he's got enough dev contacts (or can get) for help to port the data over. It may not be able to be done in bulk per'se but, it should be easy enough to automate it chunks at a time.

Its good to know it can be done. I assume most websites will be on some type of decentralized platform soon. It seems to make a lot of sense.

I posted a question a while back asking if Steemit could help WL in the event they went down for good, and wondered if the Steemit blockchain and community could build a system as authentic and robust as WL is now for processing and storing sensitive data. I got a small response at the time and the general answer was yes it could.
I think I'll look into it a little deeper and make a post on how technically it could be done.

We forwarded this article on to some people in London and rattled some cages. Let's proceed as if SteemIt becomes a form of redundancy to Wikileaks. That's how WE see it.

Followed :) I loved this idea of Wikileaks joining us! it would be great, I admire their work! But one thing I'm not so sure... why are they talking about "a powerful new media entity"; what did Assange agreed with the UK Government or deep state? I remembered seeing something about some talks between him and some intelligence agency... hum... was he told about something really mind bending we don't that made him cross to the dark side?
Didn't get to read much about those meetings though because I'm like 40 km from the big wildfire here in Portugal. It still burns nearby (7 km) but it's almost extinct.
The msm is crumbling pretty fast day by day. Very quickly there will be a media vacuum. This is why Assange wants to build a media entity now rather than later. WL has always been a powerful media entity unfortunately they've had no real support from the MSM. The MSM only supports WL when it suits them or when they can get a front page headline out of them. If WL can help build a MSM that is a bit more supportive of their work then I think it would do them and us a world of good.
Assange has had a lot of meetings about his release or safe passage to Ecuador recently. He had one on Monday before cancelling a balcony speech he was supposed to make. There is mounting pressure from all human rights groups to set him free. I believe we will hear good news about his release soon.
