When I joined I got something that lead me through a process of creating an introduction page. That's all I really remember, I thought that was fine. However, I don't know how it happened, but somehow I was lucky enough to get seen somewhat.

I think the best way for a newbie to get around is to figure out what they're passionate about and look for other blogs like that. For instance, I am a homsteading blogger, so I searched for other homesteading and gardening blogs. Come to find out, it's a pretty great group of people who are very inclusive and supportive. I am sure there are groups of people like that for every interest.
