Changes in the Red Bull team

Red Bull announced on Monday that it had decided to return French driver Pierre Gasli to Toro Rosso and replace him with Thai Alexandre Albon since the next race of the Formula One world championship, scheduled on September 1 at the Belgian Spa Francorchamps.

Red Bull said in a statement that 'the team will race with a new formation starting from the Belgian Grand Prix,' explaining 'Alexander Albon has been promoted to the team to lead alongside Max (Verschtaben), while Pierre will return to the twin team Scuderia Toro Rosso' also of the Austrian company Red Bull For energy drinks.

'Red Bull is in a unique position to rely on four talented Formula One drivers who have a contract with him, allowing him to rotate between Red Bull and Toro Rosso.'

The decision to return Gasley to Toro Rosso, who left him this season to defend the colors of the main team Aston Martin Red Bull Racing, because of the disappointing results achieved by the French driver after 12 races, compared with his team mate Max Verstappen, who is third in the drivers' stand behind the Mercedes champion duo British scientist Lewis Hamilton and Finnish Valtieri Botas.

Fourth place in the British Grand Prix remains the best result of the 23-year-old Frenchman, while his Dutch teammate has won two victories in Austria and Germany and climbed to the podium in three other races and finished fourth five times.

'We will use the next nine races to assess Alex's performance in order to make an informed decision on who will lead alongside Max in 2020. Everyone in the team looks forward to welcoming and supporting Alex during the next phase of his Formula One career,' Red Bull said.
