How I Prepared to be a Full Time Steemian

in #steemit7 years ago

I didn’t just jump head first into this, I’m a pussy!

Becoming a full time Steemian wasn’t an overnight thing, I was working daily on Steemit for 6 months before I made it my only job. In addition to building up a reputation, following and finding my niche, I did a ton of preparation in the real world too.

By the time I quit my job, Steem and SBD were both at an all time high, and I knew they would come crashing down hard. I wasn’t lulled to a false sense of security that hey I post some self portraits and I earn 300€ per day!

I paid off my credit card dept and all the other bills I had and I paid my rent for six months in advance, so I wouldn’t be homeless as soon as the cryptos started to drop. I also sold quite a lot of crypto during December and early January so that I had enough Fiat to last me some time even if I couldn’t sell cryptos for a while because the price is so bad. I was also preparing to up my technical gear because I knew that would be my life line from now on.

When there was those insane after Christmas sales, I went out and bought basic consumer goods like shampoo (dry shampoo, lots of dry shampoo, dry shampoo gives me life!), body lotion, dish soap, toilet paper and tampons.

I also stocked up the food pantry, buying everything that doesn’t spoil fast, like beans, pasta, rice, flours, and oat milk. I also bought about 4 kilos of ground moose meat to the freezer, got gifted some more premium moose meat, and got all kinds of berries from mother.

And most importantly, I stocked up on Gin, because if times get rough, it will warm me and be my companion.

Essentially, I was preparing for a nuclear war and zombie apocalypse. So of course I also have guns, bullets, and a getaway car stored in the woods, doh.

Many might think that these preparations were funny and unnecessary, but they gave me comfort and the courage I needed to really pull the plug on the real life full time job.

Haven’t regret my choice even for a second.

congrats! you really have guts! all the best for your decision!

Oh my world!!! You really thought this through Eve!
I am just starting out and I honestly feel challenged by this post. While I didn't have a job to quit like you did, I didn't think it through as a fulltime opportunity, for me it's jst another social platform with possible rewards.
I definitely need to re-think after reading this.

I'm glad I bumped into your blog today!

I had to prepare because going from a steady job(though minimum wage), to completely relying on Steemit and the crypto market, is a very high risk. But if you have nothing to loose, then of course you have everything to gain.

I couldn't agree more.
I will most likely be bugging you for tips seeing that you are already doing this fulltime.

I'm pretty sure you have alot to teach & I'm willing to learn.

I'll be back once I have thoroughly gone through your blog.

Hey, sweetie! If you ever need prepper tips, any kind of help or battle proven man who "got your six" ....and maybe some extra firepower in case of SHTF/WROL or zombie apocalypse, you know where to find me ;)

A girl could always use a northern mythology worthy of a warrior god in her corner.

The gps on the car always points north ;)

That´s some mighty foresight right there Eve!
I am preparing to do something similar, but I´ll be waiting for the right time to go all in.(That would be during the next crypto bull run, and when I have my basic needs covered so I can steemit all day long)
Kudos to you!

That's actually an excellent plan you made. By paying all your bills in advance, you can concentrate on writing and cope with the ups and downs of the price.

That's a pretty clever move to stockpile during the high time. Convert the profit into fiat and diversify to other assets.

They say in Holland "Een goed begin is het halve werk" What means something like "If you start of well prepared, your half way there " :) You done good !!!

That is a good saying, and I think it's true, or at least helps a lot :)

Thanks for sharing, great article. I've smashed the upvote button for you!

It´s amazing to know a person like you who are prepared for anything. In my sense, you are a fighter and for all we know, it is worth it that you are prepared! I might do the same. We never know how politics affect us and just with a ping, the war is right before your door. I´m with you, you are on the right path in my opinion. Cheers!!!

Amazing! No way, I think everything you did was necessary haha , well done! Regards from Venezuela! Followed and upvoted
