Don't quit your job because of Steemit
Hello, my sisters and brothers Steemers. I had very nice weekend because the working week was exhausting. So I spent it resting with my family. My wife and the baby, my dog and cat, our couch and big screen TV. We had awful weather and I kinda liked it because we didn't have to go anywhere.
So after recharging my batteries, I woke up and this morning and went to my work 15 minutes earlier than usual. Usually I go later to avoid traffic rush and crowded streets when everybody is on the way for work. When I see those people I feel like we are all pawns in worldwide chess match.
However, I'm sitting in my office now and I have some time before my first clients come.
And I'm thinking about this job, am I the right person for that and is there something better for me... Well, I can tell you, I worked on many different things. I like that. I am not afraid to try something new. And after a year or two, I feel that it was enough to me. But this job... I hate it and I love it at the same time.
I saw many Steemit bloggers who quit their jobs to spend more time on Steemit.
Those are brave people and I can't talk against it, but I definitely couldn't do that. If I had these 8 hours free to be on Steemit and only on Steemit, I could probably manage to get better rewards and my posts would be better. I would have time to learn something about coding or find some other way to contribute. If I had 8 hours free only for Steemit, I think that I could make something from it. But that is not how I see things.
First, Steemit saved me from some really bad financial situations, I managed to buy a car with my crypto money.
So I am glad to have these hidden funds, but the point is that on my job, I know exactly the sum that I will get at the end of a month. And Steemit is like: "let's hope for the best...", and you never know how successful you'll be. Remember, the most successful Steemers are those who participate in some other actions and initiatives and they do nothing except that.
Second, if I decided to work nothing but being a Steemer, I would have to improve my curation rewards.
Honestly, curation rewards are something that I don't care much about. If I wanted to have nasty curation rewards, I would have to upvote a bunch of things that I don't like at all, just because I know that they will get big rewards. And this is where all loses it's magic... I don't care about curation rewards because I find many great posts that will not get any good rewards, so this is where my voting power goes.
And third, I simply can't be home in the mornings... I feel so useless.
If I want to enjoy the day, first I have to work. If I had my own Steemit Office, maybe that could be possible. But not at home.
Luckily, from time to time I can post on Steemit from my job!
And that the beauty of it! Like today! Sometimes, my job really makes me angry and nervous, but I like this chair and this desk.... I like my paycheck, I like my health insurance and I like the fact that I know exactly the sum which I will spend for Christmas presents, while Steem and Steem Dollar are jumping up and down like two kids on trampoline! It is really fun to watch them, but, call me old fashin, with my month salary I feel safe!
I want to remind you on GOLDEN JOKER game! The winners should be announced today, but we didn't have enough comments to choose the winners! Please visit and comment this post by @whysoserious:
And the GOLDEN JOKERS go to... (HELP ME DECIDE AND MAYBE YOU'LL BE REWARDED!!!)
The real truth :"Honestly, curation rewards are something that I don't care much about. If I wanted to have nasty curation rewards, I would have to upvote a bunch of things that I don't like at all, just because I know that they will get big rewards. And this is where all loses it's magic... I don't care about curation rewards because I find many great posts that will not get any good rewards, so this is where my voting power goes."
And in fact you only end up wasting vote power and getting 0.001 cents. I tested that strategy for a week and rather expend my voting power building my base.
And indeed one should be center about what one is, in my case Job Search. For me Steemit.com became the medium through which I do my work and expend less since I do collect back some of my expenses as savings.
Good post and I rewarded and ReSteemed.
Thank you! That's very nice of you!
You don't have to quit yor job because fs steemit, however if you don't have a job, steemit is a better option than nothing!
Yes, that is a good point!
Leaving your job to do Steemit full time made sense when Steem was really hight, but now it's very risky. And I think it's better to keep it as a hobby or an optional way to make some money rather than bet everything on it. You speak wisely!
Thank you, you put my whole post in few nice quotes :)))))))))))))
I would hate to take my money out. If one needs to for an emergency, I get it.
I would rather let my stake build and work.
Good thoughts. :)
Well, I already took out a lot... because I didn't have any other solution! Thank you!
During my day job I have plently of free time, about 4 out 8 hours I do nothing. Before steemit I used to do affiliate marketting, the money was good but really boring. Now I just kill my time here and hodl everything I make. I don't plan to spend any of them. Either steemit will fail and they will be worth nothing or it will turn into a success and my steem money will help me retire early :D
I just hope I wont run into a shitty situation like you did and have to use my balance for emergency ^_^
Tip!
You are in very similar situation with your job as me. Sometimes I have a lot of time, sometimes I'm killing myself by working
I started to work on line 17 years ago!
My start was with e-gold company..
I worked in many other activities..
As example I worked as Official Representative for some forex brokers.
The last few years for some mining companies.
I am full time trader ( forex & Crypto)
The last 6 months I started with steemit..
What I want to say that I do not think I am able to work offline after my 17 years activity online..
But I fully agree with you.. Steemit must by the second activity
Thanks for sharing.
As always your thoughts is good.
@lordoftruth, you are different, when you started on Steemit, I noticed experience. You took your path 17 years ago, it is a day job to you! Thank you!
Thanks for comment.
Steemit for me is part time / around 4 hours / the other activities online take around 8 hours!
So I am online around 12 hours daily..
It is so hard and this is reason of my My Trigemanal Neuralgia..
To be honest I start to get tired!!!
For some, Steemit brings in more money than a job.
But even in such an instance, it should not be ones sole income source.
Agree! We can "believe in Steem" but we truly don't know what will be with it in future.
I absolutely believe in the almost unlimited potentials of the platform, but I will continue to spread my income gathering net as wide as I can:)
Congrats on your Steemitmobile! That is so cool, I hope my efforts here can reward me with the same soon! (My car was stolen and never recovered and life is truly difficult when you don't live in a big city with mass transit, lol!)
Steemit has paid some bills, though, and for that I am truly grateful!
Nicely said! Have a wonderful Monday
Thank you, you too! :)
Good advices... work is work steemit is steemit... I quit my job not because I hate my job and love being 24/7 online.. I prefer to have a boss ...cause my job I have about 10 bosses or more than that and I'm serious its not a joke..
Thanks!!!
Great work,,,
Thanks!
