Πολεμάμε το Spam!

Τον τελευταίο καιρό μαζί με την κατακόρυφη αύξηση νέων χρηστών στο Steemit ήρθαν και πολλά κρούσματα spam, καθώς και παράνομου υλικού. Σε αυτό το post θα ασχοληθώ μόνο με το Spam.

Καταρχήν, τι είναι Spam?

Το spam είναι ο συνήθης όρος για την αζήτητη ηλεκτρονική επικοινωνία, δηλαδή τα ενοχλητικά μηνύματα που, χωρίς ποτέ να έχετε ζητήσει, κατακλύζουν το λογαριασμό ηλεκτρονικού ταχυδρομείου σας ή το κινητό σας τηλέφωνο διαφημίζοντας διαφόρων ειδών προϊόντα ή υπηρεσίες.

Spam στο Steemit

Με την αποστολή spam, ο αποστολέας έχει συνήθως οικονομικό κίνητρο (πώληση προϊόντος, διαφήμιση υπηρεσίας κλπ). Μιας και το Steemit είναι εξ'ορισμού πλατφόρμα που με κάθε follow, ανάρτηση & σχόλιο είναι πιθανό να βγάλεις λεφτά, καταλαβαίνουμε οτι δε θα μπορούσε να λείπει το spam! Η πιο συνηθισμένη μορφή Spam στο Steemit είναι τα σχόλια που όλοι έχουμε δει να γράφουν άλλοι με ένα link προς κάποια ανάρτησή τους (που πολλές φορές δεν είναι καν δική τους, άρα μιλάμε για προϊόν λογοκλοπής), και να λένε "Σου έκανα upvote, κάνε κι εσύ στο δικό μου". Μια πιο "αθώα" μορφή spam είναι το "Σου έκανα follow, κάνε μου κι εσύ!", χωρίς να υπάρχει κάποιο σχόλιο προς το κείμενο της ανάρτησης.

Μια άλλη μορφή spam που συνήθως περνάει απαρατήρητη, είναι το μαζικό follow/unfollow. Ο spammer ακολουθεί μαζικά 100άδες άτομα, και μετά απο λίγες ημέρες αρχίζει και κάνει unfollow τα άτομα που τον έκαναν follow. Τον τελευταίο καιρό εμφανίστηκε και το wallet-spamming, οπου σου στέλνουν 0.001SBD (το ελάχιστο ποσό που επιτρέπεται απο το δίκτυο) μαζί με ένα κατεβατό. Επειδή σε αντίθεση με το bitcoin και τα περισσότερα cryptoνομίσματα δεν υπάρχουν έξοδα συναλλαγής, οι spammer επικοινωνούν με ελάχιστο κόστος με όσους θέλουν! 1 SBD για 1000 μηνύματα! Πιο φθηνό κι απο SMS στο κινητό. Εκτός απο αυτό, επειδή το κείμενο είναι δημόσιο, το βλέπουν και όσοι μπουν να δουν τις συναλλαγές του λογαριασμού μας.

Τι μπορούμε να κάνουμε;

Καταρχήν, σε κείμενα που είναι αντιγραφή δουλειάς άλλού χωρίς αναφορά πηγής και χωρίς σχολιασμό του αναρτητή (=λογοκλοπή), μπορούμε να απευθυνθούμε στο #SteemCleaners-linkdrop στο επίσημο chat του Steemit. Εκεί βάζουμε το σύνδεσμο απο ένα post που πιστεύουμε οτι είναι προϊόν λογοκλοπής, καθώς και την πηγή του αρχικού άρθρου εάν την έχουμε βρει.

Το ίδιο κάνουμε σε περίπτωση που ο χρήστης κάνει μαζικό σχολιασμό χωρίς να προσφέρει κάτι, όπως πχ να γράφει 200 σχόλια την ημέρα που λένε "Nice", "Good", "Follow me", "Please upvote my posts" χωρίς να σχολιάζει κάτι στο αρχικό post, ή βάζει ότι να'ναι tags στην ανάρτησή του. Το να γράφεις ένα τεχνικό άρθρο για τους κίνδυνους που μπορεί να εμφανιστούν στο Steemit, και να το tagάρεις ως "#nature" ή "#love" θεωρείται spam. Θα πρέπει να υπάρχει συννάφεια μεταξύ ανάρτησης και tags.

Τέλος, το πιο απλό που μπορούμε να κάνουμε είναι να πατήσουμε "flag" στην ανάρτηση ή στο κείμενο. Αν είστε νέος χρήστης και δεν έχετε αρκετό Steem Power, σας προτείνω να μην το κάνετε και να απευθυνθείτε σε κάποια ομάδα που ασχολείται με αυτό!

Ένας άλλος λογαρισμός που ασχολείται με το spam είναι ο spaminator (σύνδεσμος προς: steem.chat. προφιλ steemit: @spaminator)

Μην φοβάστε να αναφέρετε φαινόμενα spam. Είναι ο μόνος τρόπος να κρατήσουμε το δίκτυο του Steemit όσο πιο καθαρό μπορούμε!

Εξαίρεση αποτελεί το μαζικό follow/unfollow, οπου το μόνο που μπορούμε να κάνουμε είναι απλά να αγνοήσουμε τα προφίλ αυτά. Μπορείτε να δείτε αν ο λογαριασμός κάνει αυτό το πράγμα μπαίνοντας στο Steemdb ή στο SteemD και αναζητώντας το όνομα χρήστη του.

Recently, with the sharp increase of new Steemians, there is also a great influx of spam and illegal content. I'll be talking about spam in this one.

What is spam, exactly?

Spam is the term for unsolicited electronic communication, annoying messages that we have never asked to receive, and overwhelm our email inbox or mobile phone by advertising products or services.

Spam on Steemit

Spammers usually have economic motive to send the unsolicited messages (usually to sell a product or advertise a service). Since Steemit is by definition a platform that you could potentially make money from a follow, post or comment, we can understand that spammers couldn't miss this! The most common way to spam on Steemit are the "upvote my post, I upvoted yours" accompanied with a link to a post of theirs (which usually is a plagiarised post). Another method, that is seemingly "innocent", is that "I followed you, follow me back!" without any comments on the original post.

Another spam method that usually goes unnoticed, is mass follow/unfollow. A spammer follows 100 accounts, and after a few days he starts unfollowing those who followed him. Another spam method that appeared just recently, is what I call "wallet-spamming", where someone sends 0.001SBD (the minimum allowed by the network) with a wall of text. In contrast to bitcoin and most cryptos, Steem & SBD have no tx fees, so with a very low cost spammers can reach a huge audience. 1SBD for 1000 messages! Cheaper than sms. And since this text is public, anyone who can access the transactions page of your account on Steemit, will also see the message!

What can we do?

If it is a case of plagiarising someone else's work, we can use #SteemCleaners-linkdrop on the official Steemit Chat (clicking the link will take you directly to the room). There, we paste the link and an original source (if we find it).

The same can be done for mass-commenting where the user adds no value to the discussion (if you see someone writing 200+ comments per day and most of them are "nice", "good job", "follow me", "please upvote my posts" without commenting the original post), or where the user uses wrong tags on purpose. If you write a technical analysis on possible dangers for the Steemit platform and tag it with "#nature" and/or "#love", then it is considered spamming. There should be relevance between the post and the tags.

Last, but not least, the most simple thing we can do is to flag the offending post/comment. If you are a new user or you don't have a lot of Steem Power, I advice against this, and you should contact someone who deals with that, like @SteemCleaners.

Another account you could contact, is spaminator (link to steem.chat, steemit profile: @spaminator).

Don't be afraid to report spam, as it's the only way to keep Steemit as clean as possible!

An exception would be mass follow/unfollow, as the only thing we can do is to ignore them. You can see if an account does this by looking up their history on Steemdb or SteemD.
