Many say that Poloniex is not a good site, I have bought "several" currencies and for now I have not had any problems.
I have read on the web of some who did not use the security code and were stole the money ..

I have also read, however, that it is better to put their own currencies in the wallet because of course it is safer.
Time ago the site was hacked but they returned the money to everyone.

The OP in that Reddit thread didn't use 2FA so that was mostly his fault and I don't think Poloniex should be blamed for that.

The other link you sent about the Poloniex news in 2014 was new to me, thanks for letting me know!
