Hack Your Profession With Blogging, Or Hack Your Blog With Your Profession
(Journalism 5.)
Did you hear the word synergy? “Synergy is the creation of a whole that is greater than the simple sum of its parts” – wrote Wikipedia. In the business world, managers and shareholders are often mentioning this factor as a goal as they want to make mergers or acquisitions. Because the joined forces can be more profitable or productive than the two parts separately. So, 1+1 is more than 2.
Why synergy is important for bloggers?
What has this to do with blogging and simple Steemians? Quite a lot. I recommended before talking about the topic selection, you could and should write posts about an existing hobby, profession or other interest.
In this case, you will see many benefits. In your blogging activity, you have to do less homework, research, and ideas come more easily if you already know the topic. And in your other activities, you can also use the readings or researches made in your blogger time. One research, two benefits.
From the gamer to the stock investor
One activity helps the other and vice versa. Both can be more effective. Some examples:
- Your hobby is your computer game. You record your playings and cut the movies, sharing the best parts on sites like dTube.
- You are making traditional investments, buying shares or bonds, investment funds. You share your thoughts and ideas, and comment on the best readings you found, in your blog. You learn from comments readers make. Probably they have better ideas or warn you in case of dangers.
- You are working on a ship on a river. You make a lot of photos about the other ships and ports and share them, catalog them. You could make a small virtual catalog, museum, site for ship lovers. Knowing a lot about ships you can impress your boss, and get eventually an advance.
- You collect old coins. (Or post stamps, watches, comics, sports relics, etc.) You can give advice on this hobby to others. You can even link your own webshop if you have any, or offer objects to buy.
- If you don’t have your own a website or webshop you can make an agreement with others. You can advertise them for money. I know many Steemians hate ads, I do this myself. But this is the way many people can make income from blogging. (On Steem, there is another way if people upvote you.)
- You are a fan of Belarusian, Ecuadorian, Lao, etc. cuisine. You share your favorite recipes with photos. You share something you already have – an effective way.
- You have a boring job in administration and taxation. But you can give advice on your blog about how to make tax declarations. You can also convert yourself into a cryptocurrency-taxation expert. If cryptos success and have a mass adoption in the future, you can even get a well-known and well-paid crypto-tax expert. Learn, blog, improve.
- You have a boring job in a supermarket. You can identify some strange types of clients, and what a surprising method some companies use to produce their products. Write about it.
Reader and you, win-win
Blogging is helpful for you because you can sort out your thoughts and ideas, concentrate on the essential points. You can get better in your business, profession or hobby. And if you change your business, you can begin to write posts more easily with the previous experience.
I know this post has similar thoughts like the one I wrote here: The Sexual Life Of The Wandering Ants. Read the other, too, they are completing each other.
In the other, I was explaining why do you need to choose themes readers like and find useful. This time I tried to explain why you can have advantages if you link two of your activities and use the synergies. If you find useful or interesting themes you master, you and your readers both will benefit. Another important synergy, a win-win situation.
