This worked for me just now. Just make sure you use the second option for "Direct Link." It updated instantly without even having to refresh my browser. Thanks to everyone here for their help!

By the way, I want to keep the images I use. Has anyone gotten the Google Drive direct links to work? I tried and they do not work for me. Maybe there's a trick to it?

You're very welcome! :) You can do this through a upload to your post now too. Just upload it into the post, take the link path, and put that into your profile. That way the file is only on steemit without using a third party.

You can do this without 3rd party sites. You just write an article about yourself, drag/drop your photo into the article, publish the article and tag it #introduceyourself, and then go to the article and right-click on the image to copy the url and paste the url into your profile pic.

Agreed! I do not use third party sites at all now. Just find the image you want to use, have it ready, and start a new post. Then use the built in upload tool for Steemit.com. Once the files are uploaded in that post, copy and paste the file links it creates. Now you can cancel that post, and take those links to anywhere else on the platform to use.

Agreed!! Totally new to steemit as of a little while ago (and a complete newbie) and BAM - went onto lookpic and now have a profile pic!! Easy Peasy!

You upload your picture there, then click on the picture and it will bring up a page with just the picture. Copy the URL from that page and paste it into your post. Your picture will appear.
This worked for me, so you @scaredycatguide get my very first upvote on steemit. I know they aren't worth much yet, but thanks for helping us newbies!

Steemit allows you do upload pics right into your post now. Just drag and drop from your computer or hit the blue link at the bottom of your post draft.
