Meet the Silent whales of steemit

In this post I take a lot at the activity of some of the high power accounts on this platform, this would just be an intro, I would deeply analyse other areas in subsequent posts.

This is such a wonderful period for steem and by extension the steemit platform. Its logical to think that the steemit platform is going to experience an exponential growth in the coming months, while majority of the users joining this platform are going to be minnows like me looking to polish their blogging skills so they can participate in the community and maybe earn a few sbd in the process, there is another class of people(lets call them investors ) which are important to the growth of our community who would join the platform as well, you know people that would most likely have no time to blog consistently or even vote but believe enough in the future of steemit and steem to invest a sizable amount of money in it. Very few platforms offer investors the opportunty to start making money from their investments from the first day but it is very possible with steemit.

Whales

I did not have to work too hard to get this data steemwhales.com have list of 'whales' on the platform,the whales are sorted by default on the value of the accounts, I tweaked this a little to sort by the amount of steem power held by the account (yes thats all that matters :) and then I had to decide where to cut it off, the platform old question; who is a whale?. Well I decided for this analysis to define a whale as an account holding more than 500,000 Steem Power.

As at the time of writing this article, there were 37 accounts with Steem power of more than 500,000.Find list below

Silent Whales

Now I have been on steemit for about 6 months now, I know some account exist for some reason like an exchange account for example and there maybe other reasons like that. As always for analysis like this it is best to focus on the data and just show the results rather than trying to explain stuff. The following accounts have not made a single post or comment since they joined. Cool

I am going to did deeper in a subsequent post to see if all this steem power is at least being used instead of just lying in the wallet(not like its my business haha).
