Can You See The Signs ?
I think now more then ever the signs are becoming more clear. They are appearing everywhere. Now everyone is starting to realize that Steem is going to change the whole market place and it is soon going to be one of the most valuable crypto currencies out there.
Some people have had the understanding that Steem is Steemit, and that the value of Steem is solely based on the performance of Steemit. As we are seeing this is not true, there is so much more going on there.
I already saw many nice things being built either on the Steemit protocol or atleast linked to Steem. Dtube for example has already slowly started substituting YouTube as creators are getting better paid for their content and less scrutinized.
There is also a new social media website being created called zappl which is a decentralized social media website built of the Steem blockchain and that aims to substitute Twitter. Uncensored content and you get paid for your posts, sounds better right ?
These are just two things on side of Steemit which definitely is adding value to Steem, but there is much more. The more demand for Steem the higher value of this cryptocurrency. Well it is becoming quite obvious that the demand is about to expload.
And that's when the real dynamite is dropped, the Smart Media Token has been created. Well now the genious protocol of Steemit is going to be put to use all over the internet. Just like with Ethereum this is going to allow for ICOs and as more and more projects will be built on Steemit the demand for Steem is going to the moon. I already see the network boiling at this point with different ways to use the SMT. @flauwy is thinking of using this token to incentivize the members practicing memory technique and thus create a stronger and bigger number of followers. I saw @flipstar saying that something similar to Ebay could be built on this token and thus allow Steem to be directly connected to the real world market.
That is the key, Steem is slowly forming a web into the real market. We will be able to use Steem or tokens based of Steem more and more for daily life.
The fats spread of Steem into the real world will allow it to compete with other currencies. As it is one of the fastest transaction methods out there and it is free I can clearly see the signs of what's going to happen - can you ?

I have been telling my friends that Steemit has the same attributes as other social platforms without the drawbacks, but had not thought far enough ahead to see the possibility of the Steemit platform supplanting them. Why not though? The blockchain technology behind Steem is vastly superior to the platforms of Facebook, Twitter, Youtube et al, and as you noted, content creators are paid for their content...not bled dry for advertising revenues and then have their data sold! If they can engineer a transparent interface to use for legacy system purchases such as Ebay and Amazon (I don't like to call them the "real world" because that implies that we are, well, figments of the imagination?) the Steemit platform will be truly a paradigm shift right up there with the Internet and personal computers:-)

I feel like I came into steemit at exactly the right time. I knew the value of Steem would start rising once I saw the SMT announcement, and taking into account all of the projects being worked on since a while ago I think it's safe to say STEEM is on the fast track to taking over many areas.
I, however, am not as optimistic, or maybe just not as convinced as you are just yet. I think it's gonna take a lot for people to move from their comfort zone into the new world, so to speak. Dtube replacing Youtube anytime soon feels outlandish, although many creators have been crying out for a new platform for quite a while and Youtube seems to simply continue effing up.
These are certainly exciting times to be around, aren't they?

These are definitely exciting times, and yea you are right, this change won't happen over day, but it feels like we are moving in the right direction and going from one clearity to the next.
But to be realists, it will take time, like you say people are very comfortable and change happens very slowly. I mean the fact that you actually earn money here should already have made all people on Reddit to run here and start posting. But they haven't . Like you say they are comfortable
But i think with the SMT It will be a big momentum for Steem and Steemit and now we just have to enjoy the ride :)

Steem and steemit have great potential, but will be interesting to watch how the concept with tackle human greed and instant exchange into bitcoin or fiat money when price goes up. If this issue will be sorted out, I too will fully believe in the potential of steem(it). Hope for the better! :)
I think this is where Steemit is so beautiful. In order to be successful we need steem power and it's not possible to take it out in a hurry, therefore I still see the value staying relatively stable.
So this tool is good to solve the greed aspect hehe. But either way it's like with all coins I guess there will be buyers and sellers
