Lost CHILDHOOD due to Abuse - Scarred for LIFE

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

Global Statistics show a phenomenal number of Children who have suffered childhood abuse, rape, torture and other injustices that destroy our souls. The suffering, pain and being let down by the System is what every abused child goes through. Has Mankind scoped so low that they deprive a child of a life that they rightfully deserve?

Even watching the Rio Games made me cry. Abuse does not discriminate and you will even find child cruelty in the Games. Can you image the pain and suffering children from 'unnamed' Countries go through to compete in certain events? I have seen TV programs of children aged between 7 - 14 being bullied, whipped and abused in other ways too disturbing to mention here for not performing their best in gymnastics. They practice this discipline from morning to dusk seven days a week with no social life and existing in poor conditions so that can win gold medals for their respective Countries. The opportunity cost is that children lose their rightfully deserved childhoods. As a result of this cruel regime, children lack self esteem, have serious social problems, never grow up living a fulfilled life and are scarred for life.

My aim is to educate people about child abuse and the severe effects it has on children throughout their lives. There is a large percentage of the world population that still has compassion and humanity in their hearts so they will support this highly worthy cause.

What Is Child Abuse and Neglect? Recognizing the Signs and Symptoms

The first step in helping abused or neglected children is learning to recognize the signs of child abuse and neglect. The presence of a single sign does not mean that child maltreatment is occurring in a family, but a closer look at
the situation may be warranted when these signs appear repeatedly or in combination. We have a duty to understand the legal definition of child abuse and neglect, learn about the different types of abuse and neglect, and recognize the signs and symptoms of abuse and neglect. Resources about the impact of trauma on well-being also are included in this.

What Are the Major Types of Child Abuse and Neglect?

Most States recognize the four major types of maltreatment: physical abuse, neglect, sexual abuse, and emotional
abuse. Signs and symptoms for each type of maltreatment are listed below. Additionally, many States identify abandonment and parental substance abuse as abuse or neglect. While these types of maltreatment may be found separately, they often occur in combination.

Signs of Physical Abuse. Consider the possibility of physical abuse when the child:

• Has unexplained burns, bites, bruises, broken bones, or black eyes
• Has fading bruises or other marks noticeable after an absence from school
• Seems frightened of the parents and protests or cries when it is time to go home
• Shrinks at the approach of adults
• Reports injury by a parent or another adult caregiver
• Abuses animals or pets Consider the possibility of physical abuse when the parent or other adult caregiver
• Offers conflicting, unconvincing, or no explanation for the child’s injury, or provides an explanation that is not
consistent with the injury
• Describes the child as “evil” or in some other very negative way
• Uses harsh physical discipline with the child
• Has a history of abuse as a child
• Has a history of abusing animals or pets

Signs of Neglect. Consider the possibility of neglect when the child:
• Is frequently absent from school
• Begs or steals food or money
Consider the possibility of sexual abuse when the parent or other adult caregiver:
• Is unduly protective of the child or severely limits the child’s contact with other children, especially of the opposite sex
• Is secretive and isolated
• Is jealous or controlling with family members

Signs of Emotional Maltreatment. Consider the possibility of emotional maltreatment when the child:
• Shows extremes in behavior, such as overly compliant or demanding behavior, extreme passivity, or aggression
• Is either inappropriately adult (parenting other children, for example) or inappropriately infantile (frequently rocking or head-banging, for example)
• Is delayed in physical or emotional development
• Has attempted suicide
• Reports a lack of attachment to the parent
Consider the possibility of emotional maltreatment when the parent or other adult caregiver:
• Constantly blames, belittles, or berates the child
• Is unconcerned about the child and refuses to consider offers of help for the child’s problems
• Overtly rejects the child

Governments and it's Citizens have a duty to Humanity to protect Children from all the evils that this cruel bestows upon them. Long-term effects of child abuse is unimaginable.
