Hi Fresh Steemit Members !

What should I do Now ?

This is the thing that comes to mind of every new member of steemit. Even I was thinking what to do now when I registered 2 days back. I did many mistakes but get back on track on very first day after searching and searching for good things.

The purpose of this post is to point out things that you should do to get a good start in steemit.

Things You Should Do

Straight after getting your account approved, Go to settings option by clicking on profile picture icon

On settings page, fill out your details like Name, country and upload your profile picture.

Now you must read FAQ about Steemit. I suggest you must read at least General FAQ and Voting and Curation FAQ.

Voting and Curation FAQs

After reading FAQs, you can click on posts types (New, Hot, Trending). I suggest you to open trending posts but you can always choose new or hot topics as well. You will see most popular trending posts. Select any post that you like and you can choose category list that you can see at right side as in below picture it.

Now you can upvote a post if you like it as it will give you 25% curation reward of your current voting power. Just check that post is 30 minutes old before upvoting.

Follow some good people on Steemit who have active contents on daily basis. This is important to follow active people on Steemit. You can follow anyone by clicking on his/her username and press Follow button.

When you will follow someone, visit their blog posts as well and interact with them by commenting on their posts. It is very important to read the post and comment what you feel genuinely. If they will like your comment you will get upvote by them on your comment. This is really powerful thing to interact and it can give you big rewards like you see in below picture.

You should also create few blog posts of your own. You must make your introduction post. I made it a bit late :)

You must think and ask yourself that at what areas you are good and post about your strong area of knowledge, so that you can share genuine content with authority as it will have your interest and bring more value to community. As I am posting more about Crypto Trading and Food & Health topics.

You should try to contribute more and more in your starting days as it will increase your reputation number. As you can see I have reached 38 starting from 25 and it is only my 3rd day.

Things You Should Not Do

Do not start voting straight after account approval as every vote you will make, your upvote power will reduce by centain percentage. I made this mistake and busted my upvote power to 50% within 2 hours. You can check your upvote power status by checking on SteemNow

Do not follow blindly and do some research and follow the people who have same interest as you.

Do not steal content by copying from other people or websites as pasting as yours. Your genuine contribution will get you rewards definitely.

Do not skip reading FAQs as most of the information to get started can be found on FAQs and you will feel easy.

Why do you think it's good to wait for 30 minutes? Don't you get a bigger curation reward for being one of the first people to upvote new content? If this is the case, waiting 30 minutes would get you a smaller curation reward. Or, am I wrong about how this works?

You will get less reward if you upvote within 30 minutes.

Wow.. this is like an ultimate starter guide for the beginners and you have done it extremely well and with detailed descriptions simple and also easily understandable to anyone.
