Best of Steemit Tuesday: Oh, For a Muse of Fire! Or, You Know, At Least Something Fried.
Best of Steemit Every Day
Every day, I bring you eight posts you should think hard about upvoting and supporting. These are quality posts, well written and good examples of the best the community has to offer. Please consider checking them out, and if you agree, love them up.
I feel like I’m back in the swing here, after my long fast from any technology involving a screen. You wonderful Steemians outdid yourselves today, for sure. Celebrate with me @smuggly-sparrow’s ascent to the realm of the gods, @stitchybitch and her actual ode--a real, no fooling poem, with rhyme and everything--good stuff about falconry, a useful guide to how much Steem you need to buy a Big Mac, and other delights, including the rules for the game of Go, in case you’re interested. And I know you are.
Today's Best
Writing (Fiction): Yeah, I Told You So: A Short Story by @smuggly-sparrow. Smuggly and I have been friends a while, so when this story showed up as a Trending story, I jumped it. This could happen to you. And frankly, it couldn’t happen to a nicer Steemian. Way to go, Smuggly!
Writing (Nonfiction): Falconry: A Brief History, Sport of Kings and Princes by @vermute. Lovely example of magazine-style long-form writing, about a subject which I personally find fascinating.
Writing (Craft): How To Write A Short Story by @riandi. Lovely post on an art form that flourishes in the digital age. I love shorts. This is a good primer on how to write ANY story, frankly.
Steemit community: What Steem Can Buy Daily Report by @hgmsilvergold. Innovative look at how much Steem is worth. Seriously, how is knowing Steem is worth .006 BTC going to help you? Tell me how much Steem I need to buy a gallon of gas. Well. Looky there.
Introduceyourself: Hey Guys New Here, Introducing Myself by @ethanthefighter. I have a son named Ethan. This isn’t him. But I loved this intro post. Good ideas for a post series, too. I’ll be following.
My Feed: Ode To Curly Fries by @stitchybitch. Extra marks, because this is actually the closest thing I’ve seen in forever to a true ode, a long-form poem of irregular meter meant to be sung. And it’s hilarious, because @stitchbitch.
Photography: Steemit Brought Out My Photography Instincts by @teamrodriguez. Part photoshoot, part medical advice for wasp sting. Not for everyone. But Interesting nonetheless.
Special Prize: It’s Not Just About Beer by @jarendesta. I don’t drink alcohol, so this Steemian and I have not crossed paths before, but I do play games, and I’ve always wanted to know how Go was played. Great post, and kudos to @jarendesta for branching out.
As always, suggestions for posts to honor are gratefully accepted.
Rules of the Best Of:
I don't like grammar and spelling errors. I make them, but I hate them. Unless the post is supremely brilliant, even a couple of these--especially in the title--will mean it doesn't make this list. NOTE: if you're writing in your second language, significant slack will be given here. When I write in my second language, I'm lucky if I can be understood at all.
Minnows--I am a minnow, and I'm all in on support for the newbies. Doesn't mean I won't curate a whale post, but it's unlikely. If your rating is over 70, you don't need my help (for whatever it's worth).
I don't do porn, however artful.
Original content only.
I take requests. Gratefully. But not for your own work. Push someone else into the spotlight.
This blog series loves the Minnow Support Project and all its lovely denizens.
