Best of Steemit Every Day: Attack of the Killer Whales
Best of Steemit Every Day

Every day, I bring you eight six posts you should think hard about upvoting and supporting. These are quality posts, well written and good examples of the best the community has to offer. Please consider checking them out, and if you agree, love them up.
Serious attack of the whales today, as some of our 65+ friends show us how it’s done. If you needed proof that the big numbers go to those that are doing big work, here you go. Also, my apologies for only six links today, but it’s my dear darling daughter’s 18th today, and I’m not my own man. She’s more important to me than you are. Sue me.
Today's Best
Writing (Fiction): A Conversation About the Greater Deregulations by @internutter. Internutter has been tossing off gems for a while, and this is a very good one. Yeah, it’s an essay. But good fiction sometimes makes a point. This one does.
Writing (Nonfiction): Winning the Future: Audience is the Key to the Attention Economy by @markrmorrisjr. Post of the day, right here. If you don’t read any others, read this one. It’s actually about craft of Steemit (and other blog-style) posts, and I’ve not seen a better breakdown of what makes a solid, profitable post than this one.
Writing (Craft): The Secret Life of a Starving Writer by @rachelinny. Cheating here, because there’s no instruction here about how to write better. Instead, we get something better--affirmation that the scatterbrained, hopeless fools we are are not alone in the universe. I loved this. I’ll be following.
Steemit community: Why No Earnings On This Post? by @xerxes612. A question we’ve all asked. I think the answer is to work your way into the whale community, or at least to swim with dolphins. This is my attempt to assist along the way, one penny at a time.
Introduceyourself: Hi, I’m Sol, Happy to Be Here! by @optimistical. Full disclosure: I know this guy. Your life will be better if you do, too.
Steem: You Can Now Pay For Pittsburg Airport Parking With Steem by @whatageek. Always good to get news of the spread of the currency into bigger and better markets. Good find by the geek.
As always, suggestions for posts to honor are gratefully accepted.
Rules of the Best Of:
I don't like grammar and spelling errors. I make them, but I hate them. Unless the post is supremely brilliant, even a couple of these--especially in the title--will mean it doesn't make this list. NOTE: if you're writing in your second language, significant slack will be given here. When I write in my second language, I'm lucky if I can be understood at all.
Minnows--I am a minnow, and I'm all in on support for the newbies. Doesn't mean I won't curate a whale post, but it's unlikely. If your rating is over 70, you don't need my help (for whatever it's worth).
I don't do porn, however artful.
Original content only.
I take requests. Gratefully. But not for your own work. Push someone else into the spotlight.

good post - I'll check out these authors :)
Thank you, @cristof - now I know what I'll be reading for the next hour :)
Hey Thanks! I didn't get the notification on your mention for some reason, but, I appreciate the publicity, glad you liked it.
You're quite welcome. I hope it brings you new followers. You deserve them.
Nice work, resteemed and following.
I think it's really great and helpful that you've taken the time to find these posts, write a short blurb on what they're about, and sharing them in this way! Thank you!
It's been fun. I hope it's useful to you.
Absolutely! Once I get the motivation to sit down and eat them for sure! :)
