How To Build Your Followership on Steemit

in #steemit6 years ago (edited)

Hi Friends!

I am quickly approaching the 4k follower mark here on Steemit and wanted to share my thoughts on how to grow your followership in a way that attracts people who will be engaged members of your community.

In this vlog, I share some of the myths around growing your audience on Steemit and what my approach has looked like.

I hope you find this video helpful and I look forward to hearing your thoughts in the comments below! If you have any questions on anything I discussed, please don't hesitate to ask.

XO, Lea

Great advices here, Lea! You're spot on with everything you said. Cause basically it's not about quantity but about quality. You notice that on a daily basis: the more committed and engaged followers you have, the more fun it gets to interact on the platform. It's all about getting and staying connected.

That's also why I love the term #internetofvalue so much to describe decentralized applications such as steemit.com.

PS: I'm happy to be one of your (almost) 4,000 followers :-)
Keep up the good work!!

Aww thanks Marly!! Your support means so much to me!

It’s definitely more fun on here when you have a core community of engaged followers. Great point!!

I hope you have an awesome day and thanks again for stopping by! ♥️

You're more than welcome! :-) The pleasure's mine. It's always nice to see how people grow on Steemit - both from a personal and professional perspective-, and you're definitely a great role model in that context...:-)

  1. Really like you content: CHECK

  2. Really like YOU: CHECK

  3. FOLLOWED!

its always has to be that way, otherwise its probably a bot.

hahah YES!! Winning on all fronts! ;)

Totally agree! I think it's all about engaging with people you resonate with! Thanks for being a great example all round! 🙏💗

Aww thanks my friend!! <3

This is great, thanks for sharing Lea!

Just love your stuff. This is very true, I think that once you get to a certain level of followers with a good rank above 60 you will get more of the "hopefuls" or spammers following you. I do think you'll gain the high quality ones also along the way. I look in the trending pages to try and sift through to the best content creators. Ultimately, the best bloggers will carry Steemit to new heights. They will have a vested interest to do so. I also flag obvious spam. I realized it's better for the everyone involved. I only do this with spam as free speech is imperative. Steem on. Luke Steemwalker @investing

That requires a level of patience. I haven't seen a whole lot of trending articles that aren't bot assisted. I mean, to consistently have X likes within 10 minutes on a regular, never any comments...

I actually went through the list of people following me, and was shocked to see that a good portion of them were just bots. Which makes it somewhat depressing when I write something, that just disappears like dust in the wind.

I also agree with flagging spam, most of them aren't even creative.

It seems many join with high hopes, but in a system that seems built to game, looks like an uphill battle.

@bmanmcfly - Your right that it's pretty rare to see a post on the trending page that isn't there because of bots. It didn't always used to be that way around here - but that is the current state of affairs. Usually if you search within tags you are interested in ... you can find some great, quality content at the top.

Luke Steemwalker?? That's awesome. We should be friends... I'm a huge Star Wars fan. haha

I'm with you on the flagging front. I don't hesitate to flag spammy or ridiculous comments - but I do that at a minimum. For me, I'd rather save my voting power to upvote stuff that I think is awesome.

Thanks for the thoughtful response Luke Steemwalker! :)

Wonderful way to gain new followers that are meaningful and support your work :)

Thanks @lpreap! I'm glad you connected with this message. Having a ton of followers is no good if they don't engage with your content in a meaningful way. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

My question is... what is inside that box in your back seat? haha! I believe in your message here, Lea. Connecting with others via comments is key along with continuing to add value by posting quality content on a consistent basis. Video is extremely powerful and more Steemians need to take advantage of the awesome apps we have like DTube and DLive to share their stories and ideas.

Now I'm curious too, haha! Great advice as always Lea! Cheers!

bahahah omg @kenmelendez and @scottshots... you guys won't even believe me. It's a mini christmas tree... don't ask questions.

Nope, not going to ask. But I am going to lol!

I thought I was going to use it as a prop in a video... and then I didn't. I borrowed it from someone and i've just been too lazy to bring it back yet. LOL

Haha! Well, now the box itself was a prop so mission accomplished???

LOL good point!! I should really get it out of my car... but glad it sparked some fun conversation. haha

Yup, that was funny.
See what you started with your comment @kenmelendez?

Couldn't have been posted at a better time since I have JUST joined Steemit and I'm navigating my way into figuring out how it all works. Thanks a lot!

I'm so glad to hear that you found this helpful!! Best of luck on your beginning phases of Steemit! Let me know if you ever have questions... i'd be happy to help. :)

I really dont have anything groundbreaking to add... I really enjoy the quality and consistency of your posts. They all feel light to watch...

aww that just put a huge smile on my face to hear that. Thanks for the positive feedback!

You’re welcome

Great advice! This is a lesson that many people don't learn for a long time. The worst mistake that people make is trying to do sub for sub. That is a great way to keep your channel from growing in a meaningful way.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply @ethanvanderbuilt! I'm glad you connected with this message! You've got a good head on your shoulders on how to approach this platform.
