Interesting piece! Even if they're genuinely trying to do a good thing, the problem with that type of censorship is it is either ineffective or has a inherent bias that comes with it.
Corporations or governments believe that with their tabloid ads they can control everyone, but they are wrong because when people start to see that all the truth is censored they go to other platforms like steemit or dtube where it is not done, so that's why I will always choose steemit or dtube.

the problem with steemit is that anyone who puts their mind to it can censor anyone they like, any government or institution could buy a few hundred thousand steem and flag anything they want into oblivion.
They can remove the rewards but not the content.

Doesn't matter. You can still find it and point others to it. For it to be censored, it would have to be removed entirely or irrevocably hidden. If I can read it by clicking on a button that says "show post," then it ain't censorship.
to censor something is suppress it, flagging something into oblivion certainly suppresses it.
Except it's not suppressed. It's still accessible to anyone who wants to look. Still comes up in search. Still able to be commented on.
I mean, yeah it's a dick move, but if that's the kind of suppression you're worried about, I think you're missing the forest for the trees.

They have to really want to find it, it's not much different than a "shadow ban", your content is still there but no one or almost no one will see it. I am not really worried about any internet censorship, I think people will migrate away from those platforms that kick off and censor their most popular content producers and users.

Just 1 thing: on the reddit post of the criminal Bush handing candy to the psycopath Michelle I actually found a 200+ upvoted comment saying that Bush is a war criminal. Not even close to all the other comments but it's still something.
Still sad to see almost all of these genocidal criminals being portrayed as "normal everyday people" nowadays. The psy-op runs deep and people have lost the ability to remember anything.

Lets start collecting those "information refugees" and show them the blockchain light.
I set up a new account using @buildteam BuildTeam's Create Steem Account tool the other day and it was super simple. It did cost me ~$5 . But it was as easy and as quick as, "enter a username, select payment type, and go". Other than the cost I don't know why everyone doesn't use it.
I know for some of you $5 is a big deal but being on steemit is worth way more than five dollars. Get a free account or pay for one, but get one now because this is going to be the future and its going to be big.
