What Started It All

When the Bitcoin Blockchain first fired up in January of 2009 many have called it a currency or asset that would be a transnational asset that would know no borders and could even replace traditional Fiat currencies in the future. Since that time hundreds of Alt Coins have come and Bitcoin has remained as the standard bearer of the crypto currency world. What is Bitcoin’s greatest value and why is it number 1? It is the Bitcoin Blockchain and the millions of dollars of infrastructure built to support it. This is a good thing because it has allowed for many technologies to be spun from Bitcoin and to be built on top of it and that is why I believe it will always remain to be Crypto Currencies killer app 1.0.

The Next Big Thing 

I could go on a dissertation on all of the various other Coins and what contributions they have made and perhaps many of them are worth for killer app 2.0, Ethereum, Colored Coins, NXT, etc. but I’m going to preach to the choir here and say that STEEM/Steemit.com is the killer app 2.0. 

First Coin For The Non-Techies

The reasons for this are twofold. The first is that it can, does and will bring the regular person into the Crypto Currency ecosystem without a steep learning curve. You know how to use Facebook, check, you are in. Twitter, check, Reddit, check, etc… The problems that have faced all other Coins, hence, is that they have been populated by techno geeks they haven’t been able to break past that demographic. The only Coin in the past that came close was Dogecoin but even then it didn’t solve a problem for the everyday person. It showed little difference in that you had to know had to use a Bitcoin QT wallet or trust a third party wallet. Dogecoins were useless other than on Reddit or for arbitrage on exchanges, etc. It was cute and amusing but beyond going on /r/dogecoin and mining there was no difference to any other coin. (Not to mention the multiple scams and drama that took the air out of the room). 

True Economic and Speech Freedom

The second and most important reason Steem and in effect Steemit.com is a game changer is that is it does and will bring tremendous value to people’s lives. Think of Steemit.com as a capitalistic democracy where there is no leader but the people are the only ones who direct the course of the nation. The people with the most voting power have more ownership in the country but that doesn’t mean the citizen with the least doesn’t have any say, he/she can vote as well. And perhaps it hasn’t ever existed but I think on steemit.com it exists as closely as possible, pure capitalism. Most western countries today don’t practice capitalism but a hybrid crony capitalism. Here with a little luck and work through:

•  Posting content 
• Curating content (voting on good content) 
• Commenting on content 

One can increase one’s stake in Steem Dollars and then convert to Steem and then Power Up and start climbing up the ladder and become a more powerful citizen in the country. 

Conclusion

So in conclusion be an active citizen of the nation we call Steem. Participate in what you feel you are best at whether that be posting content, curating content or commenting on content. The Steem Dollars will come!
