Steemit vs Facebook. My experience
Hey my fellow steemians !
So I have been on Steemit now for roughly 3-4 weeks, loving every moment of being able to express myself and finally get my recipes / thoughts in writting. It feels so rewarding and fulfilling. It is still a struggle to explain and convince others to check it out but I say to myself with most things in life - you snooze you lose 😉
The biggest thing I have noticed and I think this goes for anyone who posts content on Steemit is that when you briefly jump on Facebook you instantly feel drained and brain washed, I mean your instantly hammered with bull shit, weather it's from news or random posts it's all so minipullated and wrong. This is not new to me but it is now so clear and i guess im just enjoying the "real" posts on steemit of people wearing their hearts on their sleeves rather than putting up a fake image or checking into every single place the visited that day to gather likes.
I found Facebook is the number one drug on the market now. It controls us in ways where we have to believe every single bit of rubbish advertising on there. People are encouraged to sell crap and promote fakeness. Celebrities cash in millions for their fake reality posts of them doing stupid things, and this is called education these days.
I was once briefly a victim of waking up and checking my Facebook but not to check in but because it was a bad habit.
I believe now we are building content here that actually helps others, we are able to follow exactly what we like and therefore gain more knowledge of what we actually want. Its still mind blowing how this platform works and I think we are in a special generation to be able to witness the changes now not just in social media but in everything. I have always hoped that "us people" get more power back over the mainstream crap and rubbish political institutions, and now i believe we are starting the momentum! 💪

I like how you say drain and brainwash by facebook because this is the exact feeling i am having. Every day i am seeing similar feeds and most of them are news or advertisments. Steemit has it edge by letting us connect with whoever we want.
Yep exactly, i never want to bad mouth anything but it has been striking me every time recently when i went on facebook its just the same shit and getting worse... its become the main stream media.
Keep FB only to keep in contact with some old friends and to watch the pets of my colleagues.
I got Tired of Fakebook myself , its cool to see a lot more people trying to do their own blogging rather than just share other peoples political articles. I have been spending more time on steemit since it actually pays me and is less depressing than facebook.
I love that people are so easy going and almost "normal" on steemit .... i hope that makes sense
Great article @ch00fy. I find myself losing interest in FB increasingly. I still go on every now and again but just scroll through my feed quickly as there is not much that sparks any interest anymore. I have deleted FB from my phone too. Really dislike the level of control and lack of privacy.
Exactly, i just feel more and more alienated by the rubbish on their. I guess it's similar to the everyday life when you mention something left wing and your labeled as a conspiracy theorist. People only have time Facebook propaganda rather than research!
FB was great networking hub once. But now it's stale. It's so full of what they think you should see and hear. I'm going to touch on a conspiracy theory here too. The TV has long been used to manipulate public opinion (including on who should run a country) and manufacture consent for war and other atrocities. And I believe FB has set itself up as the prominent, new mind control tool.
It "suggests" posts. That is a double edged blade. Advertising your business? Great. Why not? If you can afford the extortionate fees. If you don't pay them your posts are limited to a tiny organic reach. That is a new thing. And it limits NGO's and other legitimate not-for-profit's reach. Which limits important information that many people want to know.
They are using the excuse of limiting misinformation (which is also a double edged blade) to censor. I have one friend who is an advocate for asylum seekers that are being held in concentration camps in Nauru and Manus. She has been there numerous times, and is in constant contact with the prisoners and lawyers and workers from the camps, the UN, Doctors who have worked there etc... She is the go to person for truth. And they are trying to censor her for saying other than the official govt propagandous lies. We are just lucky that the UN and the ICC are now doing thorough investigations into the criminal activities of the ABF and Immigration Minister, Dutton, otherwise she would be at risk of her posts as being classified as misinformation. But FB can't do that because international news sources and official international organisations have the information on their websites.
It used to be a great place. Now it's a corporate controlled, manipulative, nightmare.
I think one of the things Steemit teaches us here is to write better , and we can do it via writing more. Great post by the way. Think of this, when steemit hits the mainstream, we all be fortunate to get here where we are quite early. Cheers my friend, you worth the upvoted!
thanks alot and yep so true we got in early and there are so many people to lazy to get into steemit because they are controlled and stuck on the mainstream crap (FB) which is sadly getting them no where.

Another thing I started to notice is in the comment section of posts from mainstream AND alternative media. It can start off with some positive comments, but give it some time and it turns into a battlefield... Us against them, the capitalists vs the non-capitalists (always being labelled communist), left vs right... In kind of a way it has become the no. 1 tool for mass polarization.
And indeed mostly shallow, hollow status updates about nothing... Wauw nice picture sandwich makes my day undoubtfully better...

Everything has a time line, fakebook's had a good ride, but the awake have realised the game at play. Steemit has a bright future and it's social media the right way, with accountability & transparency. Nice post ned. :)

Love this article:) Totally feeling feeling this at the moment too. Energetically Facebook has up the anti. It creates an energetic vortex that is so easy if we dont realise it to get caught up in. I just spent 4 weeks in the Andes Mountains with little or no access to facebook and when I returned, energetically I could feel the intensity of facebook and the agendas playing out, interesting this is when steemit showed up in my field and I am so excited to start blogging and sharing in this community. I have even deleted my FB app on my phone noticing how even the notifications create disruption in our everyday. Also I have noticed some very interesting new features FB has rolled our under the radar for even more control and surveillance. (perhaps I can write a post on it) But recently I noticed that when I share content relating to indigenous cultures, medicines or event posts about my trip, facebook automatically changes my privacy status on my posts from Public > Friends only. However if I post something random or not related to indigenous cultures it does not change my privacy status!! Interesting. Also I have noticed also that conversations I have been having in my FB messenger are been listened to and watched as instantly within a few hours things that I have discussed with friends, place names, clothes or brands that we spoke about or products will appear in my feed as sponsored ads. Really scary to think that conversations even in the "private messenger" are NOT private eh?? anyways happy to share more about the energetic manipulation of FB and the multi-dimensional affect it is having on us if people are interested. I have never had the space to speak about these things before so I am very excited to have open conversations with you all:)
