Why I Refuse to Quit SteemIt, Even Though I'm Afraid of ItsteemCreated with Sketch.

Consistency

I love the idea of posting regularly on SteemIt, but daily life keeps getting in the way.

Perhaps that's because fears keep getting in the way.

And then when I get excited about posting, and start organizing ideas into posts, I get so overwhelmed with all my ideas, I don't know where to start.

So I'll watch YouTube videos on crypto, and then update my portfolio for a few hours. Or I'll listen to an audiobook at 2.5x the speed, so I can feel like I'm getting something done at breakneck speed, even though I'm not comprehending 100% of the info. Or I'll just sit down and wait for more ideas, making the problem worse and worse.

I'm afraid that my idea slushpile will become it's own miniature YouTube, with thousands of good "videos" that no one will ever discover. I'm afraid these ideas will just go unnoticed here on SteemIt.

But then I remind myself:

You have to be consistent. You have to keep posting. Putting ideas out there. Every day. And sooner or later, if the posts are good, they'll catch on.

But what is a good idea? Good ideas these days are a dime per squared-dozen.

Have you heard this quote? It loops around my heart like barbwire made of rose stems:

"Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats."

I mean, foie gras is technically delicious, but force-feeding isn't really my style.

Part of me believes good ideas should just catch on. The other part of me laughs at myself, for being childish, for being an idealist, and knows I have to fight for these ideas.

Night in, night out.

Other Fears

I'm also afraid to post my good ideas first. If no one reads them, if no one takes the ideas and makes them their own, then the ideas just sit there. The same as if I had left them in my notebooks.

Except now they're hiding in the open. Unread.

At least when they're hiding in your notebooks, you can say, "It's not the ideas. It's not me. I just haven't tried yet. I'm not out there yet."

It's All About Mastery:

Posting every day will also help improve my writing ability, as well as style and design. Posts on SteemIt can be especially creative with all of the design features, so I'm excited to see how my "Post Personality" develops over time.

For the next month, I'm going to work on posting daily. It's time to make SteemIt a habit. If the habit sticks, only then can it become a way of life.

A way to make a living.

Not so much through SteemIt, but at least through writing.

To foie gras,

Cain
