Why Dont We Get Paid After The 7 Day Payout Period?

in #steemit7 years ago

Wouldn't you like to get paid after the 7 days you initially made your blog post?

Being a new user, Ive been doing research on Steemit and after doing a few Google searches, I found some great content. Not only was it great content, but it was a blog post on Steemit. It was very informative and as much as I wanted to upvote that post, I couldnt.

That guy deserved my .01 upvote.

Eventhough it may not be much, the pay period should never end. It will add up over time and will inspire people to put quality content on the platform. Many users are trying to get a quick buck fast posting as much as they can in order to increase their SP or cash out.

Why is this?

If I write a book and publish my book, do I only collect revenue generated in the first 7 days? Would authors still be writing books?

Or lets say I produce a movie. Do I have to hope box office weekend will be successful in order for my bills to get paid?

I dont care if its a blog post, book or movie, content is content and the market will pay for what its worth. So why are we being capped on our earnings?

How cool would it be to generate content so great it can provide and income stream for a lifetime? Although it might not be substantial it definitely would be neat and give people some hope of getting rewarded late on down the line for their hard work.

This would also motivate bloggers to take time on their posts and create not only content now, but content for the future.

If there is a reasoning behind this cap please inform me.

I also have the same things as you, great post.

Resteeming because I would like to know too. Good post @bscot020

I kinda agree with this. it should reset every time, so if someone new comes along and upvotes your post, you still get the money. Steemit is a great site, that's the on;y flip side to it

I also don't know if there is a reason behind the cap. Maybe just to give a fair chance to new authors or new posts. But I do agree with you. I've come across quite a few great articles that I really wanted to upvote, but couldn't.

Ive found some great posts after the payout date as well. The payout is based on the content created that week, divided by the currency produced. If it didn't have a shut off point, then as this thing grew, new posts would keep dividing by all the posts ever created. By the time the payout came for that week everyone would get practically nothing. Their would come a point that people weren't inspired to create anything new because it would be basically worthless. I do believe that you should still be able to give a token up vote that didnt change the value figure at the bottom, but showed as 1 late up vote. It would be nice to be able to show that you appreciated the piece, and great for the author to see when they happened to be looking back over their work. But to continuing dividing the payouts would tear the system apart.

Good question. Wish I had an answer. I'm new to Steemit...confused by it all, but I'm going to keep posting, commenting, and upvoting. Following you, as well!

Before the recent update, know as HF18, posts were paid 2 times: after 24 hours and after 30 days. Of course, having a post paid after 30 days was quite difficult. The new update changed the way payouts were made: only one payment after 7 days. Actually, I don't know the reasons behind this decision.
