*How To Gain And Keep Followers On Steemit*
So how does a minnow aka newbie gain more followers?
If you are new like myself it is very difficult to gain traction on this platform. It is definitely demoralizing seeing posts earn a few thousand while yours are only getting a few cents. It is easy to say bye to steemit, but not easy to put in work. Everyone wants to get rich quick and this is not a "get-rich-quick" website.
You need to not focus so much about the money and focus more on growing your followers. The bigger audience you have the more you can get you quality content out there which then equals more SBD's and Steem.
It seems like everyday I get discouraged on this site because Im always comparing myself to the people at the top. You should never compare yourself to others especially those who have been here since the beginning. I would love to be earning over $100 a post, who wouldnt? Sometimes I forget that Ive only been here a few weeks. And with 230 current followers im on pace for 5980 followers by year end. If thats not encouraging idk what is.
Just focus on creating good content and comment as much as possible. Not bullshit comments either

Nobody will notice you if you write stuff like this. If you want to get noticed, you want to write a paragraph of quality. You want to be the first one one to comment and get as many upvotes as possible so that you can be at the top of a potential trending or hot post. This for sure will get you noticed and start attracting follwers.
How To Keep Your Followers
Not only is it important to gain followers, but you have to make sure you keep them.
If youre continuously spamming peoples feeds with nonsense posts I gaurantee you followers will begin to leave. Keep them by posting great content a few times a day (posting over 5 times a day will eat at your returns anyways).
Another great way is by rewarding them when they comment on your posts. I try to upvote every single comment that is posted on my blog posts. You want people to interact with you and support you. Throw them a bone.
Ive also seen a few posts on my feed about give aways and contests. This is also a great way to interact with others and to gain followers. You can make it a reward based on the amount the post generates which will make users resteem your post and help you get out there.
In Conclusion
Dont worry so much about the money. It will happen, it happens to me all the time, but you have to stay strong and continue to be active. Dont give up and dont let other people take the Steem that should be yours!

There is more than just monetary gain to be had from Steemit, I try to focus on that instead of steem dollars. It is rather frustrating to write a blog and only get a few cents for it, but I enjoy meeting people on this platform and learning by reading blogs.
