The Mystery of the Lingon Tribe in Halmahera

Long before the independence of Indonesia, there was a unique tribe in South Halmahera, the Lingon tribe. This tribe had a uniqueness when compared with the majority of tribes in Indonesia that was white, large body, blond hair and blue eyes like the european.

Although the origin of the Lingon tribe was not known until now, but there was allegations that the inhabitants of this tribe originated from mainland Europe that led to other areas. But, in the middle of the boat trip that brought them sank that makes them unable to return to their home region and then settled in Halmahera.

Caused no longer access to the outside world, until the Lingon tribe became very primitive which eventually embraced animism and dynamism. In fact, this tribe was said to belong to a dangerous tribe. In the past lingon tribes were considered evil by local people, they were considered cannibals and had magic. Because it is considered dangerous that many people around the coast who continue to hunt and even kill people from this Lingon tribe. Nevertheless many women from beautiful lingon tribes was catch for marriage.

Until now the existence of this tribe is still mysterious and has never been found. Some say that this tribe is extinct and some still believe that this tribe is still hidden in the forest.
