Gold & The Labour Needed to obtain it.?

in #steemit7 years ago

Long ago before any of us were a glint in our mothers eye gold was one of the most sought after commodities on the planet, people slaved and died to get this precious metal out of the ground, and people around the world are still dying today trying to extract gold from the ground.

It is difficult to think that the gold you hold in your hand has cost so many lives, I think that's why they called it a precious metal, gold is as precious to us as the lives it took to get it out of the ground. When you see how the Aztec's Greeks, Egyptians, Spanish and British as well as many other civilisations revered gold and sought to get as much by any means.

Modern day gold mining is a lot easier than it was say 100 or 200 years ago, with all the modern day technoligy and the big mining equipment used to extract the gold from below ground, but gold is quite a scarce commodity and it is getting harder and harder to mine and will one day be to expensive to mine, so one day it will be thats it that's all the gold your going to get, and that day is fast approaching.

The last big gold rush was in American in the California gold rush, which was the last big find which the poor common people could get involved in and try to make there fortune, nowadays governments have put strict rules in place and they want there cut to of the profits.

So the next time you hold gold in your hand think of the effort that went into bringing this metal to you, it is not like going to buy a Big Mac you go in order and in minutes its ready. Gold is and will always be precious and a valuable as if you have it in your hand and own it, it is real and always will be a valued source of wealth, even if the governments of the western world try to make it look like its a relic, ask that to the families who have lost there husband or son, so remember.

Gold, and other precious metals are the only real money.

and so say all of us LOL

That's why I would rather store my wealth in the form of precious metal!

And gemstones are pretty cool too I would like A giant emerald! :-) Sov.

True words @britcoin. I have many early 1850s Gold Rush letters. People do not realize the amount of people that died just trying to make the journey west, through the Sierra Nevada, in hopes of finding a better life. Claim jumping, thieves, frauds, and outright murder to get a small sack of gold. Even modern mining takes much energy, for small amounts.

Wow jb have you done video on the letter would love to here some of those letters, hearing real history, I watch you all the time love your videos, watched you unboxing and going through the coins and looking for the error coins, you have the patience of a saint seeing you work, will comment from now on never new you were on steemit

I have a few videos on YouTube, but you may have me confused with a different jb, if its error searching. I do that, but don't think I have a video of it. Thanks, here is a steemit post on one gold rush letter.

Hmm would be interested in reading some of those letters as well!

I find it crazy how the gold in a modern coin could have been an ancient Egyptian statue, or someone's tooth! It's insane :-) Sov.

Awesome post my friend!! Really great to look at the labor and the people that have invested so much just to get at that beautiful shiny!! I think we should always reflect on all the soul that is placed into our precious metals! I did a shout out to you over on YouTube check it out!! SOV!

going over to your Chanel now and steemit Chanel thanks a lot

Thanks for reminding how scarce it is , right now manipulation is keeping it's price low . It is real money .

the gold and silver manipulation has been rampant, but now the crypto market is going the same way, we could destroy them if we all got together, but seems will never happen

There are 1500 cryptos . Right now everything is linked with btc , so they are able to manipulate them . Once this reliability on btc goes off , they wont be able to control it .

thanks you learn something new every day, thanks for the info

It's because we need LOTS of cash to do so or it would require all of us to beat the system...

When the day comes that there is no more "mineable" gold left in the ground, I'll be glad I've got my tiny bit of it. It might not be in my lifetime but possibly my sons, so I save for him and his future.

When you see a nice shiny piece of gold in a shop window, I often think of the man hours and the effort needed to bring that to where it is now. People say its expensive, I say it's worth it and ask what effort did it take to print trillions of pounds/dollars?? It's just a push of button, so where is the real wealth and value found?? It's not in the paper you hold in your hand. Sov.

Not when the banks print whatever they want, gold is the real McCoy

Never trust those 'promises' from governments in those fiat currencies!

Sov.

Gold will always be money 4evah!! Sov.

Very nice post regal!
Really makes to think how precious our precious metals really are!

thats because they are, and will always be

They are all Regal's baby ;P

Sov.

So there's blood diamonds but there's also blood on gold.

Grim thoughts.

thanks Shalinoth

In the current industry the standard would be $20 worth of gold per tonne of ore together with the chemicals and process required to refine it to the required purity. Even now a lot of labour is required even with the modern technology used in mining gold.

Sov.

good point,

No matter how far advanced technology is mining still requires lots of labour...

Sov.

Most of my gold coins are from China (pandas). Do you think working conditions are worse there than in Canada for instance ? Do I buy the wrong gold maybe with child labour. Oh dear now you made me worry!

its ok if they go down the mine after they club a few panda's will ease the burden

Well not a problem at all given there are plenty of cheap labour available...

Sov.

China are bad for child labour! But all gold will have blood on it from somewhere in history I thinking! :-) Sov.

I only feel slightly guilty then, I only have a very small amount of Gold.
I need to get more Guilt.

you need to be very very guilty LOL

Then how much more guilt should Regal have given the amount of gold in his stash spanning from different era...

Sov.

Hahaa I like your thinking bud! I'm not guilty enough yet either :-) Sov.
