The situation is really bad to be honest. They have a ton of expenses and a lot to worry about but people have invested so much into the platform and a lot of channels are just getting shut off like a light. It has really demotivated me for sure and I want to keep making content for my crypto channel but in a lot of ways I figure what is the point if I might have to get 100,000 subscribers before they let me even try to monetize the channel.
It's kind of a shame Youtube let's big creators get away with murder up until the point it really negatively affects their reputation and only then will they clamp down on them but the little guys like us get pooped on. I havn't looked into the suicide forest story that much but from what I hear Youtube was actually promoting that video themselves until it got all the backlash and then they wanted to act offended and wronged like everyone else.
I started a crypto channel as well. Honestly most of the stuff is low quality content but really just kind of building a base of content to get the channel built up and then goign to focus more on quality. Anyhow, hit my 10K subs but like you I'm still waiting for monetization and you've been waiting longer than me so I'm expecting to be waiting quite some time.
As much as Youtube annoys me sometimes and as much as it suckss not earning on their platform let's use them rather than be used by them. We can use our Youtube Channels to drive people from Youtube over here to Steemit, plus there's other ways to monetize.
I think I'm doing a Livestream with @reseller next week about Steemit. Would love to get you on my channel to do something similar
Yeah man that would be awesome! We would have to do a dry run because I would have to actually livesteam from my Android phone. It has a 6 inch screen but I don't know how it would work out.
